ashes cricket coin/medallion

hi all,
i found in a bunch of 20c pieces a Ray Lindwall 'our ashes greats' post war coin/medallion.
does anyone know where it comes from and how old it is?
also what its worth? i guess its more than 20c! lol.
any help appreciated..

It was part of a set of 15 medallions minted by the Royal Australia Mint for the Sunday Sun in 1990. The following year a copy-cat set was released by another mob, which is a bit more common called the Clashes For The Ashes. Both sets are shown on this page:

I picked up my set on ebay for $13, but I think I got lucky and it's true worth is around $40-$50 for the set. Individually, the medallions can be found for around $1 - $3 each. Whilst it's a case of "All That Glitters Is Not Gold", it is a pretty nice item.

I'm glad you ask Russell. The plan was to:

a) Wait for you to get them
b) Invite you out to the pub
c) Have an associate drop in on your place and let's say "borrow" them

hehehe ... I see what you did there .... "stitches, literally"!!!

I guess I'll have to come up with another plan to obtain the gold coins.

Seriously though, the reason I don't have them is simply because they cost too much. No harm in cataloguing them and placing them on the wish list though. You never know do you!

By the way, my place is also being guarded by one of those dogs. She is a real pain in the neck, but does make an excellent watch dog as she is fearless!
