um there are nice but i still like gold standards the best due to the shine on the card and the aspect of the idea with solid gold, signs of gold and gold rush! but exquisites come second lol Also love prizms
In a word, YES Exquisite is the best. But it's not the be all and end all.
Totally agree with what Norm said, the player list and designs plus their values have gone up and up. Exquisite is quickly drying up so grab some while you can
Sorry to "smoochie" but to put Panini Gold Standard up there with Exquisite has me rolling around the floor in stitches. (no offense mate)
There is some incredible designs and with so many HOF'ers plus great rookie autos, it is tough to beat.
Panini Silhouettes are amazing also, but with no Michael Jordan or Lebron James, Exquisite is more often than not, gonna beat it out.
yeah id love to be able to splurge a good amount of cash on some limited logos of some big players but prices for good players are unbelievable
They are, it depends on your budget but you really can't go wrong with the Auto Patch sets. They also have a great list and are reasonably priced but are already becoming scarce. I had quite a few from 04/05 and they were coming thick and fast but have now dried up quite a bit.
If you're gonna do it, there's no better time than now. The market is a little low and will only go up (IMO).
yeah especially if panini has the licence for ages, people cant get enough of the good upper deck sets, cant beat a good on card auto, if i can get some amare's and magic johnson's ill consider that a victory
iv seen exquisite cards go for crazy amounts lately, and just wondering if people feel like they are the best cards ever released?
If your only referring to the old Exquisite then I would have to agree, they had all the best players, great designs/patches and on card auto's. But in my opinion the new Exquisite has tarnished the brand name quite a bit. I am not a fan of the newer designs at all (they should have called this series Upper Deck Black) and players in their College Uniforms should be reserved for rookies only, so the fact that Upper Deck cant release cards of players in their NBA uniforms hurts the product alot. And the other problem they have is that they dont have rookie autos of ANY of the top rookies from the last two years, which being a Rookie Auto card collector turns me off straight away.
And the other thing that hurts is the downright astronomical box prices. Value for money is something that you would have to include in the criteria if your talking about the best ever release. If you hit a booklet then fine, but if not then you are out of pocket hundreds of dollars, which might not be a problem for some, but for me I just cant justify the likelihood of spending a whole pile of cash when I could go out and buy the best cards in the series (other than the multiple autos) and still have enough for a whole pile more singles as well. A Jordan Shadowbox can be picked up for around $500 which still leaves over $200 for something else, say a Magic Auto for example.
I agree with most of the comments above about grabbing the Exquisite now. You can see on ebay and forums that the availability of old Exquisite is seriously drying up, and once it becomes even less available I think you will see the prices jump even more. I wonder how soon the Lebron Rookie Auto patch will hit $20,000.
I am with you here Karl, I really enjoyed the Preferred release and silos....beautiful cards!personally I would prefer to have more than a picture of the players head on the card, at least a 75% body shot.
Panini Preferred silhouettes patches I think are some of the best cards made.
They certainly changed the market. First real high end box I think??
