I am looking at ebay trying to find some card lots to buy and I encountered dutch auctions. They seem to have pretty good cards in the lots. Are what they are selling really what they describe and pictured and what are the chances of getting some of the nicer cards.

"Dutch Auctions" are scams. Plain and simple.

No way in hell is someone gonna give you a MJ RC when they can just give you a $3 GU card.

Stay away from them.

its a way for people to sell their commons. They list pictures of super cards like jordan/lebron dual auto #/25 and stuff like that but there's no way in hell they'd be dumb enough to actually give up a card like that for $2 or $5 or whatever small amount they charge. Check the feedbacks of sellers like that and you'll find the following. Most people will leave a positive saying "item arrived on time and as decribed" or "thanks" then you will see others that leave neutrals saying "all commons, not happy with quality but other than that was fine" then you will see red negatives as well saying things like "BULLSH*T 5c COMMONS RIPOFF BEWARE" to which the seller will reply something like, "only bought one lot, buy more lots for better chance of great cards" or "buyer didn't read item description" or something along those lines.
Its a huge scam. They send out crap cards. You're better off just buying from auctions where you know what you're getting.

or are they actually auctions that are from dutch people. you know holland (netherlands) :D

nothing wqrong with that then

lol.

Yeah, and sometimes when they cop negative feedbacks, they send average jersey cards to the angry buyer to compensate.

Some dutch auctions are really tempting.. but yeh theyre dodgay as.

I've bought 1 before, was a HUGE player lot, mostly commons, inserts, and rookies, of top players, Kobe, Barkley, Iverson, T-Mac, Duncan, Shaq, etc etc etc. Basically I told the seller who I was interested in, and they sold me the cards.

They had 2 T-Mac GU cards advertising in their auctions, and I got both.

I had a good experience at the time (wouldnt waste my time/moeny now, with my goals for collecting).

The ones you see advertising all the "MJ Rookies, Bron Autos" etc etc etc, ARE SCAMS!!! Pure and simple.

But the one I got, he was honest.

Just see what you are buying into if you decide to buy one...

Yeah, I got ripped off. I bought 6 or so lots from the US early in the year, and never received cards from the seller. I opened a dispute and the seller told me he was going to refund the money. Never got the cards nor the refund.
