I am coming into some money soon and am considering purchasing a new car for weekend driving (got a work car for during the week). I have narrowed down my preferences to couple of cars and was wondering if anyone here had any first hand experience with any of these vehicles:

* Nissan 350Z
* Honda S2000

Any advice/stories would be appreciated and any first hand experiences with either would also be welcome. In saying that if there are any other cars anyone thinks are worth considering please let me know.

I know there is a guy on here with a S2000 (YellowS2K)...so maybe you could give me some insite.

Cheers
Ben

both are awesome cars.....................
i have owned a honda s2000(mine was blue though)and they are a real pleasure to drive and are getting better value for money everyday.
i have only driven a 350z,they are also a pleasure to drive i personally just don't like the shape of them.
you are obviously after power and style,so if it was me i would get a subaru wrx sti. i have owned one(2003 model) and if my family still fit in one i would still have it,unfortunatley i now have 4 kids.
bang for your buck, and so much you can do to them. aswell as not many other cars can get you off the line. i think the new models are 0-100 in 4.8 secs=P~ =P~ =P~ i better stop typing now as i am talking myself into getting another one;)

Yep power and style are high on the agenda....and unlike you i dont have a family or even a partner anymore so the 4 door things isnt a nessessity. The bad things bout WRX's is they are like assholes....everyone has one (although not STI's)....which is another attraction on the 350Z and S2000.

Ev...i didnt even think of the RX8's so i might also have a look at them.

Anyone else got any experiences or ideas???

Well, if you're after power and something a bit out of the ordinary, I like the looks of the newer RX-7 (newer one, series 6 of course...), and the Mitsubishi Eclipse, but the Eclipse apparently gets some mixed reviews for functionality, so you'd probably want to read up on them first. Sounds like you're in for a nice car whichever way you go... =D>

I personally haven't driven either of your options, but being a mechanic, I have friends who know a little and I can offer some advice I feel.
Number 1, think about service costs and replacement parts costs. Sometimes you will be very surprised at what parts can cost lots of dough. A mate of mine works at Honda in Sydney, he would swear by a S2000, he loves them, but they do have some problems if they're raced (circut racing, lol). So it should be sweet, but replacement parts can cost a bit.
The 350Z, I know little about.
I personally recommend a Subaru WRX, STi. Very little problems, still very good on fuel for cruising and can seriously haul but. Good complete package. It would possibly be alot cheaper on insurance aswell?
