Just wanted to get an e-Reader to use on the Train. Takes an hour to and from uni so that's 2 hours of nothing. Books cost too much and the newspaper gives me headaches because it smells =/
I've got quite a few e-Books already. Does anyone use or have one at the moment and could you give me a recommendation. Having a look at the Kobo and the Kindle at the moment and the Sony Pocket Edition as well.
I personally have a Blackberry Playbook which is great and going to get even better in the next couple of months with some key updates in the works. They are pricey at $500 (same as an iPad) but I've heard mostly good things about the MyTab.
Bainy I have the Kindle and you may want to read this link.. Only the US now (i think) but would be good for a student like yourself if this came to Australia
Mate,
I bought one for the Mrs for xmas last year. I got her the Kindle (Amazon make this one) but I'm not sure how readily available they are in Oz. Comparing with what they had in Oz, the one I got have dbl battery life, dbl capacity (holds 3000 books). Ours is a basic version just for reading (no internet explorer or anything). I got it from the UK (as my bro is there) and it cost me AU$180 which was also heaps cheaper than the inferior quality ones here. Prices are now cheaper. This is the one I got her Kindle Wireless Reading Device, Wi-Fi, Graphite, 6" Display with New E Ink Pearl Technology: Kindle Store
The Mrs has a kindle as well, for her its the greatest thing ever invented, it's also saved us heaps of money, purchasing books at .99c- $10 instead of $30+ she highly recommends it...
Now is a good time, Everyone wants iPad !2!
Check Craigslist or Ebay for iPad 1, You should be able to get a nice price on it and you only really lose the camera function.
Plus you can convince yourself that you can post to OZcardtrader from it, I do it all the time. DO IT!
New release stuff is on average 1/2 price of a book. Older stuff obviously less. Kindle store also has thousands of free books too. My Mrs is a teacher and teaches Shakespeare etc and as there are no royalties in his case, much of it I downloaded for free.
Another thing to consider is WiFi access but I think public transport has it for free. If not, spend some time at Macca's as there's free WiFi there

We didn't get it. We wouldn't use it. Depends if UR a gadget type person or not. Touch screen sounds OK but with ours there is a button at the side 1/2 way up. This is on both sides of the reader so doesn't matter if UR left or right handed
