Anyone Hacked Their Ps3 yet?

ok so the new hack by geohot and kakarot + fail0verflow has been completed for a week but im still deciding weather or not i want to go through with it. its free not $130 like the jailbreak dongle but i assumer their is always complications even though sony cant fix their useless programing of the ps3.

im leaning to wards hacking it i have had so much fun joining cod4 promod lobbies the last few days and really want to start my own but i need to hack it to do so ill link you to a tut on the hack via pm if you like.

yeh PM me too.... havent played my ps3 because i dont own any games(only use it as a 3dDVD player)...too stingy, been waiting to get it chipped or whateva they call it for the ps3

Waste of time ATM. It is a messy hack and they said they will clean it up. It does not allow to play pirated games.

how doesnt it? you can borrow them from a video store and rip them straight to your ps3 hardrive thats genious to me.

any how pm's coming through this tut is a lil confusing i suppose but it has or the essentials ill try and find a youtube tutorial using this that makes it easier.

at verse one i am using the hack to play promod, (ie highlight of proffesional pc gaming) on a ps3 which is amazing.

you cant play backups yet.

ATM the most interesting ting you can do is play SNES games.

All I am saying is I would wait for them to clean it up a bit more and for that ability to work. fail0verflow cracked the PS3 so they could be able to install linux on their PS3 again.

This will eventually lead to backups playing but not by fail0verflow. They released their stuff and others are working with it right now to make that happen

ok i hacked mine with the 3.55 CFW, then awesome file manager and used the promod patch.here is a how to on the promod if you want to jailbreak go to next gen update i suppose, i just dont want to be in the **** with sony if they dont find out a way to stop it.

I will show you how to start your own PS3 promod lobbies. Just i note there is no bypassing involved you will still be playing on 3.55 and COD4s lastest patch.

What you need -
GeoHotz CFW(Custom FirmWare)
Awesome File Manager
COD4 Promod patch
USB

Step 1, Putting the CFW on your PS3 -
Grab your USB and make sure there is nothing on it, then make a folder named PS3 inside that make another folder called UPDATE then put the CFW in that. Install the CFW you should hear a fair few beeps that is natural.

Step 2, Installing Awesome file manager -
Now that you have Geohot's Custom firmware installed you will need to install the Awesome File manager pkg. To do this, go onto your PC and copy and paste/drag the .pkg file onto the ROOT of your USB, dont place it in any folders. Now go onto your PS3 and install the package.

Step 3, Getting the modded patch onto your PS3 -
Once you have the patch on your USB, open up awesome file manager and scroll down the list on the left hand side until you reach the bottom (the title will end in usb), Press X and continue untill you find your patch.
Once you have found your patch press RIGHT on the D-PAD. Scroll down untill you reach devhdd. Once you have done this go onto 'Game' then find your BLES number, in my case it is BLES-00148. Click on it then click on USRDIR. Press left so you are highlighted over your patch, then press O (circle) and 'Start'. There you go you are done.

yes i thought you could because i have seen youtube videos with them.

yes the dongle worked before Sony patched it with the new firmware.

I guess can this new jail break do that yet?

if anyone needs a cod4 challenge lobby for 10th prestige, in fact nay orestige all gold guns attachments etc. add Lawford__ and ill host one for you or even promod for that matter.

Th creator of the ps3 hack has been served with papers by Sony for this hack. Until that is sorted, we are unsure of the legalities. SO we will take the safe road and close this thread until further notice.
