Recent gigs I've been to include Pendulum (freaking awesome live show) and A Wilhelm Scream who were amazing too. Up and coming Gyroscope, Strung Out, No Use For a Name & Thrice!
If there is 1 thing I've liked about living in the US it is seeing wicked concerts for cheap.....and up really close. I got to see Silver Chair in Salt Lake for $20 and was 10 metres from Daniel Johns. Got to see Fall Out Boy, +44 (Blink 182), Paul Wall, Cobra Starship all at one concert for $10. Again, was about 10 metres from the stage. Saw Ben Folds for free (mate won free tickets) and was about 20 metres from the stage. I had tickets to see Dave Matthews in August but we decided to move so I sold em. The concerts are pretty cheap and usually intimate. 311 was a wicked open air concert with Matisyahu (anyone heard of him, love that dude). i've got to see a tonne of wicked concerts for cheap, so that's what I will miss the most about the states
I'll be at that Opeth concert also with Cindy, assuming you're in Melbourne The Palace/Metro was a sweet venue. Saw Children of Bodom there couple of weeks back. Nice and close to it all, good view, plenty of room for the pit.
HELL YES! I was lining up from 6am to make sure I got tickets (yeah likely stupid but eh.) I'll be pushing myself to the front of that pit. Bring on The Sickness!
Damn! Yeah I had floor tickets too, and cause I lined up on the day some 5 hours early I got in quickly and got the front mosh pit (in Melbourne at Vodafone arean they split the floor in 2 cause it's so large). Managed to get myself to the barrier right in front of David while they were on stage, right next to this chick who was there to see Korn and holding a Barrier spot and giving him nothing so he paid out on her! "You're ****ing up my mojo! Do something, move, or get out of the pit and **** off" is basically what he said. Then they finished and I relinguished my barrier spot for the Korn fans to enjoy
