As many of you know, I am absolutely dedicated to understanding as many sets and parallels as possible.
HOWEVER, to this day, I've yet to figure out what the heck the logic is behind Upper Deck's 07/08 SP Authentic and 08/09 SP Authentic Manufactured Letterman Patch Autograph sets.
Here are the cards I am referring to:
2007-08 SP Authentic Basketball Cards matching: manufactured - COMC Card Marketplace
2008-09 SP Authentic Basketball Cards matching: letter - COMC Card Marketplace
Now I know that the cards say on the front what the lettermen are supposed to spell (Full Name, City, Rookie Year, Career Points, etc), but I am confused on the numbering. It seems so random.
Take this card as an example:
2008-09 SP Authentic Recruiting Class Manufactured Letter Patch Full Name Autograph [Autographed] #RCN-MS - Marreese Speights /5
Courtesy of COMC.com
If this set is supposed to spell Marreese Speights' full name, and he has 3 Es in his name, does each E have 5 copies or is it /5 to cover all 3 Es (meaning only 5 Es exist total)?
Another example of my confusion:
2008-09 SP Authentic Varsity Legends Letters Manufactured Letter Patch City Name Autograph [Autographed] #VL-BD - Baron Davis /1
Courtesy of COMC.com
This is the 1/1 gold parallel. Yet, it leaves me confused.
Does this mean that each E in "Los Angeles" has a 1/1 gold parallel or is there only 1 E made (making it not completable)??
And these for 2007/08:
2007-08 SP Authentic Recruiting Class Manufactured Patch Autographs 2007 [Autographed] #RC-SW - Sean Williams /75
Courtesy of COMC.com
Is this set supposed to spell out "2-0-0-7" as many times in /75? ORRRR does each number have 75 copies? ... Does each 0 have 75 copies? ORRRR does 0 have 75 total, 2 has 75 total and 7 has 75 total?
And yet again:
2007-08 SP Authentic By the Number Manufactured Patch Autographs Career Points [Autographed] #BN-TC - Terry Cummings /75
Courtesy of COMC.com
Is "Career Points 19460" spelled as many times as possible in 75 total cards? Or is there 75 cards for each letter/number??
As you begin to see, these sets are just plain head-scratching.
If anyone can speak to 1 set, all these sets, or at least attempt to answer/reason through these, please go right ahead.
