ok iv'e read the thread about buying cards on Ebay, is there a thread for selling on ebay??
iv'e just started listing some items for sale for the first time on ebay, and was hoping some of u regulars could tell me some of the do's and dont's when it comes to selling online. Things like, what things do you to to maximize a listing? (cards primarily, but other stuff too)? Do u prefer to list as an Auction or as buyitnow?(what are the pro's n cons of both). do u prefer a low starting price (like .99 cents for something u think will probably fetch $10.00 and above),to encourage bidding, or set the start bid at the minimum $$ you'd accept? What puts u off a listing? (i hate excessive postage costs). I'm sure u Ozcarders have some horror stories to tell, so please impart some of your collective knowledge,to someone whos just starting out, wants to get it right and wants to avoid some of the pitfalls,Thanks for any replys.
One thing that will help you sell multiple items to the one person is state in your listing that you DO combine postage & either offer a really LOW rate for extra purchases or charge no extra...... just depends how you want to do it. Can't stand sellers who try & rip you by charging you up to $2 per extra or even say they don't combine at all.
When selling always consider if you're willing to sell overseas, there are a few dodgy people who claim to never have received cards in which case you lose your card and get no cash (paypal always protects the buyer) and will probably end up with negative feedback. So if selling overseas make sure you get an adequate level of postal insurance before sending or simply don't sell internationally at all.

yeh, to me a purchase always feels that little bit sweeter when u can get low, or better still, free postage.
There does seem to be quite large difference in what sellers charge for posting the same item. could be greed ,could be confusion over australia posts overly complicated pricing system.
i also hate people that sell it for 0.99 cents then charge u $7.00 more, to get it.

yeh at the moment i'm sticking with domestic post only, when i come to grips with that i may move offshore, and it seems that paypal does sometimes treat the honest seller a little unfairly in disputes over items. Tip noted thanks.

Unfortunately for my hip pocket, my parents raised me on a strict diet of honesty and integrity,.... which is probably why have less money than most people.
