Professional wrestler Brian Adams — best known as Crush in the WWE world — is dead.

The 43-year-old died overnight with the cause yet to be determined, a statement said.

His wife found him unconscious in bed and dialled 911 but Tampa paramedics were unable to revive him.

Adams was a member of the more hardcore wrestling unit known as Demolition, whose members were notorious for slathering black paint on their faces and donning leather straps as part of their outfits.

Adams' life wasn't without scandal: according to fan pages, he was allegedly arrested in 1994 for carrying steroids and a stun gun.

He was later acquitted of the drug charges.

The tragedy comes at an awkward time for WWE, which has been under the public gaze following the murder-suicide of Chris Benoit in June this year.

Benoit, his wife Nancy and their seven-year-old son were found dead in their Georgia home by police.

Investigators later concluded that Benoit murdered his wife and son the weekend before, and then hanged himself a few days later.

I heard about that,he used to team with 8-Ball didn't he? I have a Disciple Auto but I don't remember if WCW came out with a Brian Adams Auto or not.

There is a Bryan Adams auto, I believe, from that WCW set from the late 90's.

He was also a member of the team known as Kronik in the dying days of WCW.

I hope they don't try to further implicate the WWE in this death, or the events leading up to it. He hadn't worked for the company for years.
