From my little experience, I can say it was financially worth it.
To know that my cards (since they're PC, and will not be leaving my collection), to know that they will forever be that same grade/condition, and not become damaged, or faded, etc, etc.
Then yeah!! Definately worth it.
If you're getting cards graded to re-sell, then unless the cards are returned GEM or at least Gold Labelled, it might not be worth it.
This is only my opinion, and not something that people should abide by.
I'd say go over the cards with a magnifying glass first before considering sending them in for grading..... this will at least give you a better shot at getting some decent grades.
Its easily worth it when you are grading cards you can't buy already graded or do it in the hope of your raw one coming out ahead of what the equivalent graded version would cost you.
For eg I've picked up cards like a Russell 61 fleer raw for $20. Got it graded and flipped it to fund more pc cards at $400US :-D
That and for the authentication of cards on my end with my niche in the hobby. That and slabbed, UV protected and air tight.
Grading has huge rewards if you slab smartly. If you just submit whatever you like then sum up the rewards based on the same card in the psa form you expect yours to come back in.
If you can get the card already graded cheaper and your card would't get a higher grade then yes don't grade your raw one.
