Annoying Global Shipping Program!

Getting really frustrated by eBays new Global Shipping Program for US sellers.
More and more US sellers tend to use this GSP from eBay which only works with registered shipping (at $25) and calculates import/customs fees.

Why in the world would i want/need to pay customs fees to US customs!?! I should only have to pay that when the package enters my country right?

I know eBay thinks they got it all figured out now, but if this program keeps expanding to more sellers i wont be able to buy anything from US sellers in the future!

Anyone else getting annoyed with this?

I paid a stupid amount for delivery for a card and still had to drive 15km to go pick it up from Toll! Bloody joke.

Am not buying many cards at present but as soon as I see a seller using the GSP I just move onto the next card. Unless it is a 1 of 1 figure there will be other sellers with that card later on not using the GSP

Yeah im doing the exact same thing. With a 1/1 it would be even worse, because you have no other choice if you really want it.
Worst thing about that, a 1/1 is likely to fetch a high sale price, which makes the ebay calculated customs fee go through the roof!
Also from what ive learned to understand is that once a seller listed the item using the GSP he/she cannot reset the shipping to manual/normal fee.

I really dont understand eBay and these sellers. eBay thinks this makes shipping international easier for US sellers, but all it does is scare potential buyers away. As for the sellers, because no international buyers will be bidding they end up with a low sale price.

Its a lose-lose situation

This is why its becoming even more necessary to get a US shipping address. I'm privileged to have a US member helping me out with somewhere to ship to and have got a few steals in the process.

This is absolutely necessary now. Either COMC, borderlinx, a friend, or some other shipping address in the US helped solve this. You seem to be able to get some steals as well.

I've had this a few times. I sometimes bid on cards when they're at their initial $1 price knowing that it's really unlikely they'll sell but i just like to see the price (you're only allowed to watch 200 items and i don't maintain that list well). A few times in quick succession i actually ended up winning but the seller only used the global shipping program.
Fortunately common sense prevailed and they did not charge me $30+ for a $1 card and cancelled the item (even though i was technically in the wrong). The fact that they cant change shipping is really strange...

However since getting a US shipping address i don't really worry about messing this up and don't need to bid on these as a international buyer anymore!

The COMC mailbox is working great for this I would suggest everyone checks it out. Only a few purchases a month makes it worth while. I've found so many seller that even ship free within the US!

What fee's are associated with COMC mailbox or Borderlinx ?

What happens if the card comes damaged etc.... who is responsible Buyer or Ebay ?

What happens if the buyer puts a base card instead of the item you purchased and states it was sent properly and Registered and then states the buyer is trying to scam he did the right thing who is responsible ?

I just think it was not really thought out well just a quick band-aid fix which is going to cost the bottom-line on selling/sellers a lot more and open loopholes for the scammers .

Also i have decided I am only shipping EMS or Registered to the States from now on as it is only fair ( unless i know the person ) considering all the non receipts , chargebacks etc... going on over there

Thx Graham that solves alot of the issues i was thinking about , so they actually open the product to verify .

If for instance something went wrong is the seller still liable ( for eg.. Card is damaged and not as described )

If you post your questions over the in the mailbox thread, we've got a couple of COMC reps answering questions.

But my take on it is that COMC will take a photo and send it to you and you need to verify if the card is correct. If the card is damaged then COMC will advise you and then you need to contact the seller and work it out. You can then instruct COMC to return the card to the seller etc.

Best to post in the Mailbox thread and get clarification though.
