andrew johns 2013 esp legend card

Hello everyone......For the last 2 wks I've been speaking to ESP & the NRL regarding the error on the reverse of the Johns card. As can be seen on those for sale on ebay (I have notified both these sellers) Johns' defence has been written as "uthless" instead of "ruthless" The NRL & ESP assure me there are 5 with this error & if a collector has one they can either keep it as an error card or send it in & it will be replaced with a card with the proper spelling plus a statutory declaration stating the error card has ben destroyed & has been replaced by a card with the same number & correct spelling.

Why would anyone send back a card that there is only 5 of to get back a card there is 206 of???

Just looked through current and past sales of this card. 4 of those 5 cards that are misspelled have already hit ebay.

Also i cant find a current or past listing where it spelled right.

Whats the odds of that???

Who from ESP told you there are only 5?

Not doubting you Paul but something does not add up with what you have been told.

Perhaps Matt26 can chase up Terry and see if there is any more clarification around this issue.

Owen......As this 2013 ESP series is a guaranteed & licenced product of the NRL I spoke to them 1st. A guy called brett called me back to say that ESP had told him that there were officially 5 error cards printed to date. Not only did he divulge this info. to me but he also said that legally the template had not been adherred to & in saying that ESP had something to answer for & that these revelations had sent the NRL'S legal people into a spin.
I got in touch with Anna McDonnell of ESP to express my concern & voice my opinion that I did'nt think the error affected only 5, she did not argue this point & gave me instuctions as to how the error could be replaced with new card plus stat. dec.
NOW my next question, as I put IT to Ms McDonnell is IF YOU CAN PRINT OFF AN EXTRA 5 CARDS YOU CAN PRINT OFF AN EXTRA 203 CARDS & from here the mind boggles.

Yeah im not sure how the NRL can sign off on a template that had the correct spelling only to release cards with incorrect spelling. At a guess i would say:

1. They printed these cards off before the NRL signed off on them.
2. They lied to the NRL about there only being 5 error cards.

Either way im sure the NRL will be none to pleased. I hope you take the time to let the guy at the NRL know only the error cards have made it into the market at this stage.

Thanks .....I can only go in with hard factual evidence, in so doing I have been watching & copying all the errors that hit ebay. Evey auto has its peculiarities & the numbers are of course different. As time goes by we'll see the outcome, in the meantime I'm the splinter under their fingernails.

Haha, god knows what they're on about. I can't see them paying Joey to sign another 208 cards over that tiny error!

It's got nothing on putting (C) AFL on the back of a whole set, and Select didn't do anything about that.

Yes ...... The thoughtlessness & deceit is what sticks in your craw, those who are adults amongst us can speak up for themselves but we must remember there are youngsters who are collectors & our voice is their voice to.

Morning James.......God does know what I'm on about, it's about knowing what's right & rectifying the problem. I will be putting another thread up Re. The 1996 gold signature series acetate &master cels.
