American Card Shops

Going to America next week with the family for the first time. Will be there for 6 weeks in New Orleans, Miami, New York, LA, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Hawaii.

Does anyone know any good card shops worth visiting while we are there?

Look up Dacardworld's website. They are near Buffalo and Niagara Falls if you have the chance to get away from NY City. They have several other stores, not certain exactly where they are in relation to the Big Apple. They have a massive range of NBL, NFL, MLB, gaming and TV & Movies etc.
Probs not big on NRL tho.

Cheers Muzza. Not really going to buy anything, just have a look. I would like to collect other cards like NFL or Big Bang Theory but I dont have the room to keep them.

Other than DA as Muzza mentioned, the only other store I can think of is Burbank Sportscards in California (just outside of LA): http://marketplace.beckett.com/burbanksportscards_21/

How did you go with this Mark? Did you find any worthwhile. Would be keen to check a few out myself when i'm over there later in the year.

Hey Chris

Only got a chance to go to one shop in San Francisco. The guys there were awesome. I had a long chat with them. The amount of cards/series were overwhelming. I can't remember the name of the shop but I will have a look on the Amex statement and get back to you.

I believe this was a smaller store and it was well worth the trip.

Mate if you could let me know the name too as we are off to LA, Vegas, SF and Hawaii at the end of March. I know there is Paula's in Honolulu which I will look up.

Not much in LA other than Beverly Hills Baseball Card Shop (californiasportscards). North of downtown in Burbank, is Burbank Sports Cards which has a huge inventory. In Vegas Legacy Sports Cards on West Sahara or Ultimate Sports Cards on Fremont st.

I'm also heading "state side" end of March April LA / Vegas / SF / Washington and NY so have been watching this thread with interest. I would like to try and find those Sportstech top loader binders, did anyone come across them at any of the shops?

I went to this one in NY - http://www.yelp.co.nz/biz/chameleon-comics-and-cards-new-york-2 . I picked up a couple of NBA boxes there. Very close to the 9/11 Memorial if you are planning on checking that out.

If you're of a certain vintage, when in Vegas, and you're sick of casinos, Mexican touts, casinos, shopping, casinos, and kids walking the strip with yard glasses, make sure you head to the Pinball Hall of Fame on East Tropicana. You'll lose an hour or 4 of your day.

I'm with my kids and grew up with a $0.20c piece with a drill hole in it, that sounds like a lot of fun.

Same here. Washers, gas igniters, and jumping the back fence of the fish and chip shop, stealing his coke bottles and then taking them around the front to cash them in.
