i ended up with:

kahn

maldini
beckenbauer
roberto carlos

matthaus
platini
zidane
garrincha

pele
maradona
cruyff

some tough choices. hard to pass up eusebio, gerd muller and ronaldo (the real one)...
no current players. cristiano and klose were the closest to making it in.
and no englishmen.
