RHYS PALMER!!!
.
.
No surprise realy there... here is the articles...
Rioli deserved to win he was a standout in a good team, anyone would of looked good at freo, and Cotchin would have won in a canter if he'd played the entire season.
hmm, not sure if I agree with the choice here, I would have thought Rioli was the stand out this year. To be noticed in such a strong team takes a hell of a lot more then to be noticed in a poor team. Certainly Rioli didn't have the same year as Selwood last year, but I thought he was a terrific contributor for Hawthorn all year. Just my two cents tho....
I think rioli should have won, added an even greater element to a potent forward line in a winning team. I could go on, but alas will leave it at that regarding rioli.

Totally agree... Rioli should have won... held his place (and did really well) in a very strong team... Cotchin with a full season and pre-season would have won by a mile...
Plus... Brown should have received at least a vote... Ibbotson got 7?!?!??! Reimers, Morton, Ebert no votes either?!?!? Gary Lyon said on Friday night before the final round that he had Nathan Brown leading his personal votes...

Actually the voting went:
1. Rhys Palmer - Fremantle - 44 votes.
2. Cyril Rioli - Hawthorn - 37.
3. Trent Cotchin - Richmond - 21.
4. Matthew Kreuzer - Carlton - 11.
5. Garrick Ibbotson - Fremantle - 7.
6. Ben McKinley - West Coast - 6.
7. Nathan Brown - Collingwood - 3.
8. Cale Morton - Melbourne - 3.
9. Alipate Carlile - Port Adelaide - 2.
10. Austin Wonaeamirri - Melbourne - 1.
I think Palmer was a deserved winner, it's about the player that had the best first year, not the best player. To slot straight into any AFL side and become the number 1 midfielder taking the oppositions best tagger and still racking up the possies he did is awesome by any standard. Rioli's ball use was better but he went missing for games on ends at patches.
reece palmer played as good as any1 and proberly looked better because his team hadnt been performing as well as the other teams and played very good football so u now he deserved to win and most people should agree with that
10. Austin Wonaeamirri - Melbourne - 1 vote. - That is laughable, he had several outsanding performances and was clearly amongst the top five of this mob.

im sure all the hawks fans will say Rioli should have won it, but Palmer was the best and most consitant player, Rioli had a dry patch towards the end of the home and away season.
Plus i had both Palmer and Rioli in my super coach team, Plamer scored much better
