Theres been a few post lately about sentimental cards, and where your card collecting began, so i thought id share a little story.
back in 1993 when i was in Primary school, i would mow the grass to get 5 bucks and ride down to the news agent and grab a pack of cards. my favourite was always Upper Deck.
then one sunny glorious day i pulled this card here-
I was amazed. i had never seen such a fantastic looking card before. the next day i took it to school, and everyone was amazed. MJ's flight Team cards were like gold in my school. Very hard to come by when you only buying one pack at a time. and i must say i was very popular for a few days owning such a card.
then not long after another kid who should have a job in sales talked me into trading it to him for i think like 15 of his 1993-94 upper deck base cards. foolishly i parted ways with my Stacey Augmon Flight Team card.
Moving forward 17 years later, my Card collecting habit has been re ignited by the thought of completeing alot of my old sets. i bought 2 boxs of 1993-94 upper deck (series 1 & 2) and i pull this guy! -
it brought back all those child hood memories that made me so happy, then a bit over a year later the set was complete!!
It was a good day when the Augmon came back into my hands. and even a better day when i picked up the Shaq! that was always the crown jewel. i remember seeing one at a market when i was a kid. i think they wanted like $60 for it. they let me hold it in its cover and as a kid that was the most expensive card i had ever touched. i dreamed of one day owning it!
