92/93 UD and 93/94 Skybox box break

Hey guys

Just got these 2 boxes shipped from the US today, and let me tell you what. Don't ever buy a box of 93/94 skybox. Half the cards are ruined since they were stuck (more liked glued) together.

Here are some of the cards from 92/93 UD

Heaps of jordan base cards. By the way, if you look closely at those checklists, they all have pictures of jordan on them

The inserts

And some Shaq and Zo cards

That first shaq card is the short print version, which has a BV of something like $50. No idea why though when all the other short print cards are like $2


And now the 93/94 Skybox. Overall, missed out on 3 insert cards,
Some of these odds on the insert cards dont seem to be correct
Like the draft picks, which is suppose to be 1:12, but i only got one and the centre stage which is also 1:12. Got 2 of those though.

Other inserts. The first olajuwon is f**ked thanks to being stuck to another card.

And some photos of the damage on other cards. These are probably the most severe, but the rest of the cards with damage are not that far off.
Id say around 60% of the cards have been ruined like this.

Ive still got a few other boxes to break open. Ill post them up when I get them done.

Love the 90's stuff! That box of UD was good!!! Gotta expect some tickage with 15 year old boxes though mate!

That 92/93 UD set was my first set when i started collecting.
Great lot of cards u got!

Yeah man I had the same problems with the skybox. Although in mine some were ok and only some were stuffed. It is a pity but hey they been sitting there for a while, it must be something with the skybox cards, how they were made. The UD's do not have the problem, I have found (from that era).

Yeah I remember having the same problems with the 94/95 skybox as well.
And have you noticed they have this strange smell? kind of like nail polish. That must have something to do with why they are sticking together so bad.

you will find even some of the 98/99 boxes have stickage as well, probably not to the point of cards being ruined but a bit of stickage.

the only old schools not to get stickage are the straight cardboards before the gloss one;s came in.

This is the first ever time I see the 1992-93 Upper Deck Game Faces cards, and a very nice Michael Jordan version I must say. Are they from an insert set, or are they regular numbered cards part of a sub-set from within the full set of base cards?

Just a subset of the base cards, pretty nice looking for a subset card definitely.

Looks like it could be an insert though, same with the 93-94 UD skylines cards.

the one to look out for is the error jordan card which says 1987 - 1995 or something like that instead of 1987 -1988

92/93 upper deck were some of my favorite designs of all time... how much did the box cost you if u dont me asking? and where did u purchase from?

I picked up the Jordan ERR for .99 off the bay was stoked with that, I remember years ago it use to book at $150US. Also the Skybox problem, I'm sure was a problem even back when they were released, it was one the first boxes I busted when I was an youngen, I think it has to do with the temperature where they are stored, the were super glossy almost to the extent you could feel a filmy texture on top of the card...

Opening 3 locker packs of 1992/93 Upper deck tonight. Was going to buy Series 1 93/94 Skybox next month as I need the commons. Should I chance it? it's only $50. I need to finish this set.
