Then moved on to 14-15 Hoops. I always enjoy this. Was happy to pull 2 Road to the Finals inserts I didn't have (out of 5 in the box), one of which was Steph Curry (mild theme alert). The Kidd/Iverson artist proof was nice too. And a Jabari Parker auto. Solid start!
Next up was 15-16 Donruss, which was a first for me. Had a look at a pack some weeks ago and decided to check it out further.
I kind of like the base variants (Rebounds, Scoring etc.) that are numbered to the player averages, but it's also a bit odd as the worse a player is at a stat the harder he is to get (I pulled a O.J. Mayo Rebounds numbered to 23 or something in that pack I opened awhile back).
Decent box, though I don't know what they're normally like. Nice Westbrook die-cut to /99, and Derrick Favours patch to /25 and a Chris Mullin auto.
Then I moved on to 12-13 Past and Present. One pack to go and I was ready to call it the low-point of the break even before opening all the boxes:
Then the last pack, and this exact same thing happened earlier this year with this product, last pack and this auto!! I now have 2 of these. Seriously, this set has Kendrick Perkins and Steve Novak and I pull 2 of these:
15-16 Revolution. No auto this time (25% to get one in a box from memory). Nice KAT variant and those startburst cards are awesome (Gasol /75)
15-16 Prizm. A couple of nice Curry inserts (/350 and /99) and a Larry Nance Jr. auto. Not bad!
Finally 13-14 Crusade. This is cheap now, and it's not always pretty but it certainly has its moments. Like the on-card Hardwood Homage autos (Jamieson /199). Also another Curry insert.
Now, did that seem like there weren't any low numbered Crusade cards? Not even the die-cut to /99 which I'm sure is meant to be in every box?
Yes, there was one more...nice jersey numbered Derrick Rose.
....very very jersey numbered....
First 1 of 1 I've pulled personally. Pretty exciting! It took me a while to realize what it was because it was the top card of the pack, thankfully it seems to be in mint condition.
Jersey time. This was series 6 where the top two names are Karl Malone and Klay Thompson. I tried to open it slowly just to peek inside...it seemed dark, black even...Miami? And was that number 8? I had no idea at this point:
I even had a look at the auto but couldn't recognize it initially, jersey number 3:
Finally just pulled the trigger and had a look. If I'd been given a list of all the possible names in this and had been asked to choose....this would have come dangerously close to being my first pick, top 5 easy. I might have picked Gary Payton being a Sonics fan.
