I got bored the other night and started browsing DACW.
When I first got back into the hobby a couple of years ago I would drop about $2k per year at DACW on boxes, but never really had any huge hits, so I havent busted much this year. 1 or 2 boxes.
Best I pulled from all that was a A Davis RC Auto, Lillard RC auto, and an MJ SP Authentic auto.
They're all great cards, but my head says that I could've saved $1200 and just bought them individually. But thats the thrill of the gamble that we all love, right.
Anyway, I casually added a few boxes of some their current great discounts and the next thing I knew I had 21 boxes in there for $1450 including shipping to Australia.
They are: 6 box case of SP authentic (50/50 guarantee of MJ or Lebron auto)
half case of Fleer Retro (potential MJ/Lebron PMG Red/Blue/Green, or auto's)
3x Momentum
3x 12-13 Limited
3x Timeless Treasures
Now.... After placing the order (but the payment not being processed), I started to feel a little buyers remorse. The Ol' "I wonder what sick cards I could buy for that $1450
THEN.....
DACW emailed me to say the card was being declined for an unknown reason. Was this devine intervention????
I have ALWAYS wanted an MJ Bulls auto, and stumbled across an Exquisite patch auto for $1500...
I have also always wanted a SIGNED Magic/Bird/Dr J rc, which sell for $680ish...
So.....
what would you do?
I love a gamble. But I hate losing too
The gambler says I could pull an MJ UNC Auto, an MJ PMG Green, a MJ buyback auto 1/1, Kobe and Durant 1 of 1's and more from the box breaks, but I would also love to own an MJ bulls auto one day.
or if anyone has any suggestions for good MJ Bulls auto's let me know.
Must be bulls, must be upright, not sideways, must be on-card auto.
Tough decision, seen as I don't really bust much I probably wouldn't go that way. The patch auto is real nice, but I to have always wanted a Magic/Bird/Dr J triple autoed RC so I'd go that and be happy with the change in my pocket.
Be carefull ordering over $1000 because if you do you will have to pay import tax o.top of your price when it gets to Australia and wait about a month for it to get cleared through customs I have been through this twice allready and once I had to pay over $650 extra to get my order released.
So be carefull when spending overseas,
I always make sure my orders now are under $1000 including postage I'd rather pay postage twice that import tax any day.
Also I would get the MJ for sure all the products these days are rubbish parallel ruined.
And the only year as of late Imo that I think is worth buying if you do is 12-13 for the double rookie year as again Imo I think rookie cards are the ones that hold value better.
if you had 2x options the decision is a no brainer = definitely PC card...
if you had no choice i.e. you're a wax busting addict... then listen to what everyone's saying, fight your urges and buy the PC card/s
IMHO any on card mj bulls uni is good, I think long term you will find a lot of the exquisites level out and drop in price, a heap of them already have over the last year. I sold my limited logos of his and wouldn't get 1/2 of what I sold it now. At the same time his bulls uni cards have picked up a lot. I would def consider that card, and I love the design!
Personally I would pay anywhere between 800 - 900 for that. The auto looks sharp, card itself has nice edges/corners and has an awesome pic of him on it.
Great looking card - auto looks a bit lighter on the J so I would see if there is a better pic or if that would bother you - would me if I was paying that for a card but I'm a bit picky
Assuming this is the auction I just stumbled across in my "recommended auctions" http://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-04-Upp...003150253&rk=1&rkt=8&mehot=pp&sd=121530411059 I have bought from this seller and have had no issues. The price seems to be going high already, but then again I did say 800-900, wouldn't surprise me if it hit the 1k mark.
I say go for it mate, if you look at sales history, none listed in a long time. If you like the design, you may never get a second chance for a very long time.
My fave MJ autos all come from the 03-04 season, that being one of them. Most of them carry a small premium due to that very factor. They all seem to hold their values and increase each year that passes.
