Elite has never been common heavy. I'm all for larger common sets in Traders/Xtreme though. Why only 9 per team when most teams have a top 13-17. Two pages is 18.
For Souths alone in 2018 you have:
Burgess G
Burgess S
Burgess T
Burns
Clark
Cook
Crichton
Douehi
Gagai
Graham
Hunt
Inglis
Jennings
Johnston
Kennar
Murray
Reynolds
Sutton
Tatola
Walker
That is 20.
Common squads need to be bigger imho.

This is something I thought about, and the guarantee of 2 hits per box brings the ratio down to 1:18 for numbered hits. The inserts were also designed to try and make them more interesting to the collectors as well. Box/case buyers get a little more value, and pack buyers get a lot more value.I struggle to see how increasing box sizes to 36 packs will increase value for collectors, when they will probably only add in another worthless 1:6 pack insert. All I see it doing is putting more money in TLA's pocket.
I'm quite happy at 1:24 odds to find the major box hit.
Can we get over 2018 elite yet?
Can we get over 2018 elite yet?
We haven't arrived at the official release date for 2018 elite....bit early to talk 2019 Elite me thinks.......lol
I like the idea of jersey patches for every team - however the set overall doesn't really address the numbered hit distribution across the product run. Sure there's still mojo singles in all the boxes but even counting those most boxes this year had something else in them as well. Unfortunately with the jersey patch concept it would be really hard to get a crop of 16 recognisable players to part with jerseys - even in smaller sets such as Road To Finals there have been some unpopular player choices limited by the availability of jerseys. Case Breaks would also be harder to fill then they are right now - sure there's more individual mojos floating around but only 2 sigs per and 1 maybe 2 jersey patches if you're lucky per case at the same price point would take a lot of value away in the minds of some collectors I think. As I found out with brainstorming for this set the balance of value and desirable product is very hard to maintain.Ok after the success of this years release.......some stunning cards and some great concepts.
Here is what I would put together for Elite 2019.
- Base set is 160 cards ( no box cards - even though I did like the concept.
- Parallels are a variation of the base card
- Elite Impact are players who create the biggest impact for the team
- Elite Sharp Shooters - Goal Kickers and General Play Kickers
- Dally M Award Winners from 2018
- Elite Excitement - Featuring action images from high flying wingers, powerful props or exciting halves.
- Ruby Mojo Refractive Cards #/40 - Similar to 2017 Design (10 per case)
- Sapphire Mojo Refractive cards #/20 - Similar to 2017 Design (5 per case)
- Green Mojo refractive Cards #/10 - Similar to 2017 Design (2-3 per case)
All individually inserted.
Elite Young Guns are limited to #/80 to slightly improve value.
League Sensations make way for Elite Jersey Patch Autos - Redemptions (similar to the Marvel Jersey card design from last year) limited to #/40 each.
A prime gold version of these cards - Redemptions (Brand Tag/Sponsor Patch/Unique Patch) are limited to #/10 each.
There are also 2 masterpiece cards per Jersey Patch Player - a Team Logo Patch Signature (like the current team logo 1/1 patches in elite which are unsigned) and also an NRL Logo Patch auto version which would coincide with a new NRL Logo being launched next year.
These cards would be tough pulls........these 32 - 1 of 1 cards in total would fall 1 in 20 cases and be most sought after.
Case cards are 1 per team and limited to #/40 each commemorating a 2018 milestone for a player on each team.
For me this would be an ideal release and one that would have plenty of greats cards for all team collectors.
Thoughts?
Cheers
Matt
only 1 signature per 2-4 boxes would be a massive put off for this price range
