Not sure why Goodes and Fletcher get a figurine, they have retired. And why no Nicky Dal??? Was going to say they would have been better doing Coleman medal gold figurines but currently there are only 4 Coleman medal winners playing. And since Goodes had a Brownlow one in the first set I would have thought a Kane Cornes would have been a much better option as he actually played his 300th last year.
Just my thoughts, but IMO they should have another rarer subset of figurines serial numbered to 50 or something, then I'll be interested in getting the set.
Also, these carry no value once the AFL season is actually over.
I picked up 24 AFL packs for 10c each in late-October last year, and if packs are worth nothing, the figurines are also worth nothing.
They were clearing excess stock for next to nothing. Doesnt neccessarily mean they are worth nothing though. Some stores had heaps at 10c or 20c a pack at the end of last season, where some had sold out ages before that. Even at 10c - 20c each, once they are sold, you wont get them that cheap again.
If you want a set this year, you can certainly hold out & hope they will end up that cheap again - & that you can find some, however you may miss out too if they sell out like in 2014.
I am in Sydney & the same happened here with the NRL ones last year, however the 2014 set - the rares are still selling now for $25 - $50 each. Comes down to supply & demand. Last year they simply made to many. Who knows what will happen this season.
Like the GI Joe and He-Man figurines and Lego sets and Hot Wheels cars etc that I used to play with. Watching the collector-themed shows almost brings a man to tears these days when the expert provides his or her appraised value of the items!!The other issue in regards to future value is how much of this stock gets in the hands of grubby kids.
These kinds of things, mass produced and released now, in 2-3 decades time might be the kind of little gold mine my kids and grandkids can enjoy.
Any idea on ratios of Gold & young stars? Have bought 15 packs so far for 6 golds & 1 young star which seems way off to me.
A mate of mine in Western Australia bought five packs for his daughter at a Coles service station and got 4 golds.......it would be interesting to see what the actual odds are mate.Any idea on ratios of Gold & young stars? Have bought 15 packs so far for 6 golds & 1 young star which seems way off to me.
