They gave the Churchill Medal to the wrong Burgess.

George had a much bigger impact.

But i guess that is what happens when you are a media darling these days.

To all involved in the teams win yesterday, we salute you on a fantastic win over Canterbury.
It was a long time in the making, you done your fans proud.
Remember it is a whole teams effort, there were some outstanding efforts from some individuals, but that does not happen without the team around them.
Souths 21 premierships.

Souths were the better team and deserved the win. Score was a little flattering though. 2 lucky bounces and a forward pass near the end epitomised a Doggies fan's night.
I was shocked where I viewed the game from. Sussex Inlet bowling club. 80% cheering on the bunnies with only 1 (yes one) guy in a Souths jersey. Talk about a bunch of bandwagon supporters. I went up and shook that one bloke's hand, congratulated him on the win and being the ONLY supporter there proud enough to wear his team's jersey.

I was sitting right near the Goal Posts in which all the 2nd half Souths tries were scored and yes i was wearing my Broncos Heritage Jersey when 1 sad ass Bulldogs surporter asked me why i was wearing my jersey? Hello!!!! 1st of all Broncos vs Warriors Holden Cup Grand Final was on earlier and 2nd i wouldn't wear any other teams jersey if my life depended on it haha.

Best day ever. Seriously magic! I've been keeping it low key most of the season but def during the finals. Last year's Prelim loss to Manly-Warringah hurt. I didn't want to get ahead of myself. I stuck to my processes and knew the boys would do it. However, having been to 20 odd Grand Finals and wished on the best of luck to friends, families and co-workers all those years for wins, fair games and good luck, it was great to be the one receiving it this year. And yes it's probably a bit blah blah blah for some, but it has been tough, with ups and downs, but fark me this is so sweet.

And to beat the Dogs in the GF, arguably one of the toughest teams of the past 30 years was fantastic. The crowd support for Souths was huge too, and I feel sorry for the dogs fans because I think there was a lot of sentimental support out there for the bunnies that the dogs were always on a hiding to nothing. Still, it was a MASSIVE defensive game from both sides. The dogs can hold their heads up and their fans - somehow I was sat in the dogs area despite buying my tix in July with my membership number code - were warm and gracious in defeat. Phew! Partied hard, partied long and am on the 'get me some sleep' downwards curve!

I'd like a dynasty, but I won't be greedy. I'll take this one. I just hope the Sharkies, Warriors and Cowboys win won in the next decade because their fans deserve to be part of something special too.

Sigh. Season over for another year. Now to buy the DVDs, the Premiership Cards, frame the badges, cards and signed jersey.

Ok, so the grand final's done and dusted, and the better team on the night definately won, as me and several other Dog's supporters have already said... But a few things from the washup which I don't personally agree with: 1st of all, Isaac Luke getting a ring. While I hold NOTHING against the guy, and from the brief interaction I've had with the guy, he seemed like a top bloke. But "the rules are the rules", as they say, which is apparently why the NRL has slugged the Dogs with a fine which ammounts to $4000 per MINUTE that they were late coming onto the field. I mean, it's not like anyone in the stands were thinking: "You know? Gee, it's getting late.... I think I'll head home and watch the game on TV!". So "no harm, no foul", but the NRL decided to come down anyway. But then when Luke can't get a ring due to... you know... NOT playing in the game due to suspension, 1 of the guys who got a ring FOR participating, decides to give it to Isaac? And before you say "What about the Price/Thurston incident, Price missed the game THROUGH INJURY, not suspension. The NRL originally didn't want Luke to have anything to do with the on-field celebrations, but later relented to let him on the field with his team-mates, and rightly, IMO... But if the NRL wanted Luke to have a ring, SURELY they'd have made him up 1, "just in case..." It sucks that he missed the GF, I totally agree. But the BEST way to ensure you make the grand final, from a "potentially" winning semi'final team", is surely, NOT to do anything ILLEGAL? Then today I read that Chris McQueen stated publicly that Luke had been "hard done-by", because the NRL didn't defer the punishment till the start of next season? Hell, with that logic, you could go out on your "bucks night", glass someone, then tell the judge: "Ok, I'll serve my time, just give me a chance to get the wedding/honeymoon over, and get a bun in the oven, THEN I'll do my time..." Do you THINK that'd fly in a courtroom? NO! But then we have social media inundated about how the Luke tackle "wasn't worth missing a grand final for". I'm sure they WOULD rather he serve it during a few meaningless trial matches, but unfortunately, thats NOT when the offences were commited...

Secondly, teams have been fined all year, and threatened with harsher penalties, if concussion guidelines weren't followed. So in the GF, when Burgess copped that shot what happened? Souths doctor: "Hey, Sam! You ok?" #Sam mumbles something in return# "Yup, sounds good to me!" When I saw the hit, I felt sorry for my brother next to me, who is a life-long Souths fan, thinking Sam would have to at LEAST go off for "tests", whatever they are. He plays the 80 minutes, then can't remember basic stuff from the game he's just played... And then a "leading specialist in the field", comes out and says 1 more hit could've left Burgess permanently bling? THERE'S a lawsuit waiting to happen... I know when players are PLAYING they put everything like that down to: "It's just part of the game", but so did Jarrod McCracken, Steve Rogers, and a bunch of NFL players... Once again, I'm happy to let stuff slide, but if the NRL wan't to be a stickler for the rules, surely there needs to be consequences. Certainly not a replay next week, because I'd just expect more of the same, myself...

Graham wasn't showing ill effects from the 3 headclashes. On the other hand, Burgess having the side of his face caved in DOES classify as an ill effect, to most people's fair reasoning. In these days of law-suits after the fact, the NRL have a duty to the players, and themselves, to avoid outcomes where a player is left permanently incapacitated. Hell, do YOU want to see someone permanently blinded on live TV because he wanted to "tough it out for his mates"? I certainly don't, hell I feel bad enough when someone is knocked out cold or does an ankle....

And again, the refs do themselves absolutely no favours by being betwixt and between. Seriously, players know they can get away with murder now and just play it cool and the refs never have the gumption to sin bin/send off. Except that LOL moment of the year when Cummins sin binned Matt Gillett against Saints.

super league refs can get it right, they sent a muppet off 2 minutes in this morning in the grand final. didnt see the rest of the game, but so glad they made that call even that early on.
