I read somewhere they are going to be promoting nrl in NZ by a mass amount over the next few years... I think it is a great idea....
Last time I was home in nz was grandfinal time 2011...... Went to the local to watch it...... Five big screen tvs and one 34cm tv...... Ended up watching the grandfinal on the 34cm with the only other "australian"..... All the other tvs had Union, soccor and cricket.....
Be great to see more of an nrl following in NZ...... Having said that... I'm not convinced I could be persuaded to watching another country's sport...... I can't bring myself to watch AFL... And that's pretty local... Lol..
Where on earth were you? Can't talk for the rest of the country I guess, but league is pretty huge in Wellington. As shown by the 30,000 crowd the other week at the Stadium.
It's not really another country's sport when NZ are the world champs.
Scored my first tazos today. First time anything league related has been on sale in poxy little town, so stoked. Although being a well known teacher in town had to live with the shame of everyone discovering my nerd obsession .
And league is much bigger here in the Horowhenua this year - completely reversed over the off season, several of the main rugby clubs in town haven't been able to field there b's. We only have one rugby team at school instead of our usual three.
Oh and nice segway to the NZ World Champs comment; I guess we better get in while we still can!
Ken, you got Locke, I got Johnson and Mannering is on the bag. Does that mean there is three players per team? I thought there were two and then a double player card?

EDIT
Just read on the the other thread that they released 48 in the set in Australia, but my cards say there are 51 in the set here? So maybe an extra Warrior and the two replacement cards?? I still got a Jennings so they haven't replaced that here.
It's surprising how many follow League here in Hamilton, and packs seem to disappear from the shelves pretty quick, so the bug must be spreading!!!
You might be right Daniel, about the Warriors cards, time will tell I guess. I'm still looking for the Dragons, but I think I'll need to buy a few more loaves yet.
Anyone know where the unsold loaves go?
Found an Uate today, so grabbed the loaf (even if I did need it for my lunches this week, and it was a toast loaf! ) Anyway, here's a comparison between the backs of the NZ and Aus sets, for anyone interested. Different numbering, and a different bread logo.
So, finally solved the solved the riddle of the extra 3 cards in the NZ version. They are Johnson, Matulino and Mateo, which added to Locke, Mannering and Locke/Mannering giving 6 Warriors cards in total.
Do any other kiwis know where to get a folder? There are none in the supermarkets of my town and Tip Top isn't responding to my emails
