2013 ESP Elite NRL Card Prices???

Hello All, I have been collecting off and on for a few years now and need a little help understanding the asking prices on the new 2013 NRL ESP Elite Release.......manly the top line cards League Sensation, Future Stars and Fast & Furious specials. There were 576 cases produced which works out 5760 box.....there are 2080 League Sensations(16players - 130 cards each) 2100 Future Stars( 20 players - 105 cards each) and 2080 Fast & Furious Specials (16 players - 130 cards each).....that works out 6360 top line insert cards in total therefore there should be at least one of these per box and some boxes should have 2 as there are 600 more of the cards then boxes?? The cost of a box is $135? Give or take.........shouldn't the price for one of these cards be $100 at the most as there are common cards and other inserts cards in the boxes???? Am I seeing the wrong?? Please help me understand

That would all make sense to me. There might be a bit of give and take in that the Gold Fast and Furious would sell for less than a League Sensation, but I think if you pay over $150 for a League Sensation you're being ripped off.

In the short term, at least.

Limited quantity of each is the reason the prices are coming out so high. I saw the same thing with AFL Future force.. they were like $50 a box to buy then within a year went to $200/box to buy as were sold out and cards were extremely limited.

Not that I bought any - was just an observation. With the stars that are in this release its almost like the boxes and cases have been underpriced (IMO) and cards will be pretty sought after and hard to come by.

$100 for a high end players signature numbered to 130, when we were paying $400+ for similar cards numbered to 100?

I feel the case and boxes prices are fair......if you were to go out and purchase 5 cases at $1200 ($6000) you would get a mixture of 50+ top inserts .....yes you would get doubles but isn't this what OZCARDTRADER is all about trading. You would also get a few shoe boxes full of commons and minor inserts which would bring you $1000 ever day of the week.

That means you get you full set of NRL Elite of $5000......how can someone ask $250 for one signature card or worse still someone pay $250 for a signature card from this release.

I would be happy to pay $400 for a 1 of 100 signature card if there were only one per case and only 4 or 5 in the set but these signatures are 7-8 per case...don't get me wrong looks to be a get release........but get real with the prices.

I agree with everything you are saying myknights, but the reality is people are going to panic and buy all of these cards really fast at these prices to secure them, and then they will become hard to find and command a higher price from then on.

Its certainly a different ballgame compared to the Select years.

In the end it is all down to supply and demand. There will be a lot of people chasing the signatures which are numbered to 130 and the Future Stars numbered to 105.

Look at the redemptions from select in the past.....# to 100 these were bringing $750 each when released. Still only #100 of each player. In this set i would argue that while there are more players to be had, the quality is pretty good across the line.

Plus you have to take into account the fact that people will be desperate to secure the sigs from their team. 130 sigs divided by fans from just that team is very few. Add into that people that are completionists, or just like that player, or bust them and don't sell them on. I reckon these will sell like hot cakes & at a high price

Ok then you guys would know best......I just can't get my head around it.......if you look at Select 2002 NRL release there were 5 main signature cards that were 1/100, that's 500 signature cards in total that sold and sell today for between $400-$600..... This series has 4180 signature cards either numbered out of 105 or 130. All I am saying is going off those numbers they should be worth a fair bit less......maybe its just me i havent been doing this as long as some of you guys.

Agreed there are more cards, but there is also a greater demand. you had 5 cards in the past which may not have appealed to collectors of every team. People who wanted the sets or collected that team, sure they would have bought them.

In this instance there is a Panthers Grant auto #/130 and a Cartwright Future Stars numbered to #/105 (pulled it). Both on the top of my want list.

There is something for everybody and the team they collect which will make them popular.

That is true, but there were only four of those sigs to collect in each set. There's 32 in this set ... I don't think collectors have enough money collectively to push the prices for these anywhere near Select prices.

From where I sit more collectors these days just seem to collect there own team cards ....... Where as in the past collectors may have tried to collect everything?? You only have to look at the 04 captains signature cards there were only 40 of each player and you can still today (nearly 10years after there release) pick the majority of them up any day of the week.......that tells me there aren't 40 serious collectors that collect everything....anyway getting off the track......GO THE KNIGHTS

You have raised a good argument, I think as Matt said, there is a lot more interest in this set, which will drive prices up. For me I'm still so taken aback by the price of no name Young Guns from the Traders release that I expect to pay through the nose to get anything from my team now.

And with the 04 captain sigs you sure are talking about the serious team collectors. At near on $1000 for a Betham sig (who was never that good a player anyway) to complete my Warriors set, I tend to pretend it doesn't exist.

A future star for Manly sold for $200 a Dragons for $185 and a Morris League Sensation (Last number 130/130) sold for $300.

Interesting....just funny that people they are worth anywhere near that money....maybe they are team collectors who just just in early so they can forget about it.
