Beyond the inserts and Panthers set, I hadn't really had a proper look through the checklist before now, and I'm a bit surprised just how few rookie cards there are.
I know there are limitations in terms of production deadlines and NRL involvement/control of player choices, but to have no Adam Reynolds, Conrad Hurrell or Corey Norman - who were in their clubs' top 17s from round 1 - just hammers home the point made by ESP in another thread about the content/players in Select releases being too state.
Compounding the lack the rookies is the inclusion of several players who were out for the season from about round 1-2 - Brett White, Nathan Smith - who have had no bearing on their clubs' fortunes in 2012.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in past years, I thought the Series 2 usually had stats until about round 7-8 of the existing season. For Dynasty it is only round 4. Maybe Select had tougher print slots this year or maybe they just wanted to pump out their last NRL set and be done with it, but the earlier cut off shows when you look at the checklist.
It probably won't irk a lot of folk, who are more insert-focused, and I appreciate Select has tried to give rookies more attention in insert sets over the past two seasons (though usually a season or three after they've debuted), but it annoys me when the common team sets end up being a fairly non-reflective record of the season.
I'm still looking forward to Dynasty, liking the insert variety and hit-rates, and haven't been able to get excited at all about ESP's upcoming rep set - but their comments about more relevant/fresh sets still has me welcoming them having a shot with the NRL licence.
Haha , no for real guys as you all know i am a Locky signature collector and this new collectors card means alot to me and my collection.... So i am just hoping that someone from this forum cracks one and if they want to sell i am open to any offers....
The Knights captain cards are of Gidley who's played all of five games this year ... our Top Prospect is Stig who hasn't played a single game all year ... top stuff.
Penrith's Top Prospect is Sam McKendry and he made his debut in 2008, and has played 45+ games for his club and played in 9 international games for NZ/NZ maori.
Well I'd rather have that than someone who may never be seen again. Last year the Knights had Likiliki who's played two games for the club in two years, and this year Stig who's been injured since last season. It's a bit frustrating ... Alex McKinnon would have been an excellent choice this year, Joel Edwards last season ... and there's Tyrone Roberts as well.

Im going to buy all the ryan stig future forces i can, He had an eye infection this year. Freak injury. Last year he came in when mullen was injured and we all thought the season was over. Ryan lead them on a winning streak and helped make the play-offs. Bennet wants him and so do other clubs. he is a straight running tough half back. these ball players are in short supply in the NRL. Everyone has forgotten him but he will b back big time.
Just a quick note to let everyone know that Gameday Online will be busting open a case of Series 2 NRL Dynasty box by box on our youtube channel. Keep an eye out for the first box breaks starting Monday 30th July. Will post them in the box breaks section of Ozcardtrader.

Yer, plenty can change. If you look back at my 2009 Classic break when i hit the Uate Top Prospect 2 people commented which were "Jeez, who picked the players for the Top Prospect Cards " and "Yeah not a bad box. the prospect was a bit =\." So the guys with not much of a name can still break out.
I was saying the choice of players for some Select sets is frustrating.
But I'd rather have a long established first grade player than someone who may never be seen again.
Agreed that Stig will play plenty more first grade in the future ... not sure about Likiliki, he's definitely dropped below Kevin Naiqama and Peter Mata'utia in the rankings since Bennett arrived.
