Good luck to Clinton Young - he was always a whipping boy at Hawthorn, hope he has a good career at Collingwood. I will never forget the 70m goal to put Hawthorn in front in the 2nd quarter of the 2008 Grand Final. In a lot of ways I like free agency - the amout of money that is turned over in footy these days means that there are opportunities opening up everywhere for players...and in the rest of society employees can choose to change their occupation where necessary/practical and being an AFL player is a full-time occupation.
Troy Chaplin and Daniel Pearce are worth picks 30 and 31 in compensation, CLinton Young a Prmeiership player and Grand FInalist poached by Collingwood... is worth pick 66? Uhh yeah AFL's bias against Hawthorn is VERY clear.
No compensation for losing Tom Murphy at all, he as an emergency to two grand finals, such AFL NONSENSE as usual.
I used to get upset when players left Collingwood Especially when Tarrant went to fremantle, Fraser to suns call them traitors ect. But its life players like /need change and if they want to chase money thats fine we need to remember these guys get 10 years max in this profession to make the most out of it. If they stop performing the clubs have no hesitation delisting them. If Fraser stayed at Pies he would still be on there list not retired. TIME TO STOP HATING ON PLAYERS FOR CHANGING CLUBS.
(If Cloke left I wouldn't of liked it but id rather him go than play for us for the next five years hating the club.)
Loyalty in Football is a dying thing we are just slower that US to get there.
As a Hawthorn member I don't begrudge blokes like Clinton Young and Tom Murphy moving to other clubs. We have been extremely ruthless at times with loyal players like Trent Croad and Campbell Brown and it is really a case of swings and roundabouts. Loyalty in footy is a myth anyway, dating back to Ron Barrassi leaving Melbourne to go to Carlton. It is a "supply and demand" situation - I am certain that if the Hawks were offered Murphy and Kruezer from Carlton or Dangerfield and Thompson from Adelaide as a straight swap for Youngy and Murph they would pack the two Hawks off without hesitation!

Crows should get shafted as well. They are just as guilty. If you have a gentlemens agreement, you should honour it. They have shot themselves in the foot. Tippurt should get banned for 2 years, manager should be banned for two years and Adelaide should loose their draft picks for this draft. Which means they will go into next year with 3 less players than everyone else.
One less team for the bombers to worry about next year.
Big things happening in the trade with less than 2 hours to go.
Hawks news
Got Matt Spanger from Syd (ex West Coast, back-up key defender, Murphy replacement???)
Gilham to either Carlton or GWS is the talk
Personally id like Gilham to stay, but not too sure he'd get a good run in the seniors next year.
I guess if he does leave we will get another crap compo pick from the AFL. Surely if Chaplin is worth a pick in the 30's then a premiership fullback still only 28 is worth more.
