Poor security there, but I suppose if some mad fan wants to storm the pitch, it wouldn't be too hard at most grounds.. Pretty sure AZ pulled out of the rest of the game, after the ref sent the keeper off. That keeper saw him coming too, just in time.

fan says he hates the keeper, so he attacked him. crazy mofo. 19 years old. he'll never get to go to another game.
not sure, but from the few english matches ive been to, i think security wouldve already been on top of him by the time he got to the GK. pretty slack i think.

You're right, it was a big game between AZ and Ajax so security should of been much tighter for this day and age.

Yeah he needs to keep scoring well into next year. I'm surprised he hasn't picked up an injury yet, but he deserves some luck after having so many troublesome years.

torres whinging that the liverpool fans dont like him. thats the least of his problems. the chelsea fans barely like him.

Why should we like him? Dude walked out on our team to move to a rival. I for one would never want to see him in a Red shirt ever again. I also hope we get rid of Suarez soon.

i dont like torres, and like i said, i think hes just whinging 'cause he cant get in the news through his football, but im not sure why liverpool fans were too upset when he left. he was in atrocious long term form (still is) and you got an incredible price for him. i mean, would you rather he was still playing @ anfield and not scoring goals?

Damn, had a look at @StanCollymore 's twitter account. He's a knob, but he's 'favourited' a lot of 'support' for Suarez. Now, can't tar the Mickey's all with the same brush, but shows racism still a big problem off the field...

i think all this support for suarez from everyone isnt right tho. i dont agree with the length of the suspension, but the fact is, he broke the rules and hes been punished for racism. you cant support that. at absolute best, it was a simple mistake on suarez's part, but a mistake none the less.

Liverpool Football Club is very surprised and disappointed with the decision of the Football Association Commission to find Luis Suarez guilty of the charges against him.

We look forward to the publication of the Commission's Judgment. We will study the detailed reasons of the Commission once they become available, but reserve our right to appeal or take any other course of action we feel appropriate with regards to this situation.

We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken.

The Club takes extremely seriously the fight against all forms of discrimination and has a long and successful track record in work relating to anti-racist activity and social inclusion. We remain committed to this ideal and equality for all, irrespective of a person's background.

LFC considers racism in any form to be unacceptable - without compromise. It is our strong held belief, having gone over the facts of the case, that Luis Suarez did not commit any racist act. It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible - certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations.

It is key to note that Patrice Evra himself in his written statement in this case said 'I don't think that Luis Suarez is racist'. The FA in their opening remarks accepted that Luis Suarez was not racist.

Luis himself is of a mixed race family background as his grandfather was black. He has been personally involved since the 2010 World Cup in a charitable project which uses sport to encourage solidarity amongst people of different backgrounds with the central theme that the colour of a person's skin does not matter; they can all play together as a team.

He has played with black players and mixed with their families whilst with the Uruguay national side and was Captain at Ajax Amsterdam of a team with a proud multi-cultural profile, many of whom became good friends.

It seems incredible to us that a player of mixed heritage should be accused and found guilty in the way he has based on the evidence presented. We do not recognise the way in which Luis Suarez has been characterised.

It appears to us that the FA were determined to bring charges against Luis Suarez, even before interviewing him at the beginning of November. Nothing we have heard in the course of the hearing has changed our view that Luis Suarez is innocent of the charges brought against him and we will provide Luis with whatever support he now needs to clear his name.

We would also like to know when the FA intend to charge Patrice Evra with making abusive remarks to an opponent after he admitted himself in his evidence to insulting Luis Suarez in Spanish in the most objectionable of terms. Luis, to his credit, actually told the FA he had not heard the insult.

The closing line of the LFC statement is, from my perspective, both confusing and disappointing.

To on one hand state earlier that the club is "anti-racisim" and then later praise Luis Suarez for "claiming not to hear" Evra's remarks to him is hypocritical and counter-productive.

Do they in some way think this adds to his dubious "good character"?

The FA supposedly had found good reason to suspend Suarez for the length of time that they have, particularly considering Evra's "cry wolf" tactics in the past. I can only assume that other players, or the referee, also heard comments from Suarez to Evra.

There is nothing that the club can do about it now, they have made their feelings known and now simply have to get on with life.

I've got a feeling that the FA have some evidence that they are revealing to the public/media.. don't know what it could be but you would of thought more evidence was needed to suspend Suarez.

On another note, Luke, another article popped up on foxsports' website about the possible return of Thierry Henry to the Gunners.. what do reckon the chances of this are?

I watched a couple NY red bull games last MLS season. Im not sure what he could/can add to Arsenal at this stage of his career. It would be warm and fuzzy i guess.

yeah, im not sure id like him to see him come back. hes one of my favourite players, but id rather remember him at his prime. sometimes you just gotta move on. pretty sure hes trained with them the last three MLS off-seasons tho, which is why i think the rumour comes back every year.
anyone else hear the FA are thinking of abolishing the loan rule. horrible idea.

Henry would be better option off the bench than Arshavin or Chamakh.

Just a bit more on Suarez and the "Negrito" word

I’m a Liverpool fan and I live in Colombia. Living in Latin America takes some getting used to and after two years in Bogota certain things still leave me completely baffled. Jokes for one, no matter how many times people painstakingly translate them on my behalf I generally remain stone-faced; a bit like translating a good pun to a Frenchman- don´t waste your time trying.

And so it was that I struggled for some time with the word NEGRITO. Negro is Spanish for BLACK and ´ito´ is an extension added to the end of almost any noun to mean- small version of (´ita´ for the feminine). Negra, negro, negrita, negrito, I hear the word used in one form or another every other day. And not only because it is my girlfriends nickname for me! (Another Colombian joke- because I´m big and as white as a merengue- geddit?).

In Medellin this type of terminology is particularly common and everyone is (for example) el flaco (the thin), mi gordita (my little fat girl), el gringo (the non-Colombian), mi negrita (my little black girl), amiguito (little friend), mi amorsito (my little love) etc.. The addition of the suffix- ita/ito is generally a sign of closeness and affection and indeed the first par, ie. Gordo (fat) is often not at all descriptive, but also just for fun. This may sound strange, but when you consider the word ´marica´ is used seemingly at random to mean either, ´mate´ (friend), ´gay´, or ´wow´, you begin to understand the complexities of making assumptions about a language – based on our own.

Let´s assume that he at least meant to patronize Evra, but perhaps in this case that is closer to shouting ¨see you later fat lad¨ after nut-megging a rotund member of the opposition.

An amiguita in Medellin once said to me, about a black American friend who was visiting- ´your n___ friend is so cool´. She was a hip hop head and had picked the word out from American lyrics and thought it the same as negrito. I explained to her the BIG difference. I´m a very white, very middle class hip hop head myself, so have strong feelings about this word and its casual use by ´cool white kids´ – and I hate it. Anyway, I explained the difference and the connotations and history of the N word and she understood and accepted that it was completely contextual.

A week or so later I was in the mountain town of Manizales with the same girl and it was raining, mucho. We were out shopping when I heard her say, ´look, a black *******´ I turned to her and said, ´what the **** did you say?´ and saw she was pointing at a Blockbusters, I had been complaining about being stuck in the hotel with only rubish pirate DVDs to watch. Confusion can easily arise.

Who knows what Suarez has been told about language and racism since he arrived in the UK? Let´s assume that he at least meant to patronize Evra, but perhaps in this case that is closer to shouting ¨see you later fat lad¨ after nut-megging a rotund member of the opposition- than it is hardcore racial abuse. All I would ask is that he not be judged by a British understanding of the words involved. There are many very insulting Spanish words, but negrito is very far from being one of them and without understanding the context of the word in Latin America one can´t judge Suarez (or my amiguita negrita de Medellin) on racism
