Ok, dan is getting a thread going to send to select. So you can ignore this one. If you have a complete outline of a series and just wanna ad your two cents, heres the thread. Dan is doing a top job so to save him time just reply once with your thoughts. Or if you have something to ad, just edit your post and ad it. Remember that Dan has started of the price list and now this, should give him a thanks :)

I think they should make next seasons cricket cards like the 2009 AFL Champions

Commons: They should make them look more exciting and bolder than this seasons.

Die Cuts: I think they should go with the Select AFL and NRL 1 card per pack Guerney Die Cut. This would make a pack or box more exciting to buy and open because you are guarrenteed to get a card that is different to the commons and like this season you'd get a good card every 6 packs, if there was a die cut it would make it a lot more intresting. I think they should make DC's for 5 or 6 of thses shirt cards of the teams best players for each of the domestic team and then they should have a whole Test, ODI and Twenty20 squads on the Australian National teams Die Cuts.

Gold Foils: I think tey should keep these cards the same because they were quite Bold and exciting.

Past Heroes: Keep the exact same.

The superstar Gems: This sounds really weird but i think they should have a Half photo, Half cartoon (the shirt) card of each First Pick Test team player which would make these cards alot more exciting.

The Double Trouble: This sounds even weirder but i also think they should have a card of each states team's 2 star players on the same card to form a double trouble card.

The Redemptions: They should have Sketch Cards from the Awards at the Allan Border Medal night like last year.

Case Cards: I think they should have as case cards:
Ricky Ponting, Allan Border, Steve Waugh 10,000 Runs Cards
and Shane Warne 700 Test Wickets card

I think tese wold make tehm more enjoyable to collect

The odds:
Die Cuts 1 per Pack
GFS 1 in 6
Past Heroes 1 in 14
Superstar Gem 1 in 25 packs
Sketch Cards 1 in 36
Double Trouble 1 in 64
Redemption Card 1 in 1000 Packs

Ditch the superstar gems and the die cuts! In fact CA should ditch select and try and get futera back - Futera wouldnt need our ideas they are going strong with their overseas cards like soccer etc

C'mon mate, how bout u give us some ideas rather than dising everything

Not dissing everything! I dont like the superstar gems with the silly oversized heads and I dont like the G/J dcs either! Thats just my opinion

Anyway http://www.ozcardtrader.com.au/forum/cricket-chat/46933-select-cricket-card-base-sets.html

Think I mentioned something about all of this a while ago ;)

My biggest idea is drop the whole Australian only theme and make it an international set, as cricket is a truly international game unlike afl and nrl (I know rugby league is trying to be an international game but it is really only oz, eng and somewhat nz)

Would love it to include internationals again

Make the inserts something appealing to chase, loved going after the Bat 2 Balls etc (Didnt mind the MOTM cards from 07/08), tryn to think of ideas for that. Like Tims idea for milestones, series wins, cards for the teams that win state comps

Keep the 1 per box auto for domestic etc

Bring back signatures from legends.

I loved the Marsh/Lillee auto so would love to see some more multiple player autos. Mark & Steve Waugh, Hayden & Martyn, Slater & Taylor.

Would love to see some commentary team cards.....even a set of Autos  Fantastic for a bit of fun.

Guess it all boils down to cost, trying to keep it as cheap as possible to produce to max out the profits.

The dual autos are a great idea. I think they need to produce more impressive cards at the high end - that is what has stopped me buying cricket for the past few years. Why not do past player autos like Boon, Steve Waugh again? Surely the best product of recent years was the 98/99 hobby with the Ashes Heroes sig set of 12 cards - 1 per box. Why not have a Richie Benaud Legend signature card limited to only 50? I am sure that having State player sigs simply isn't the same - people want the real grail stuff - that is why we will keep buying packs. A redemption card for the full set of sketch cards - who cares? It won't make me buy a box. Even a past Captains sig redemption set of Benaud/Lawry/I Chappell/G Chappell/Kim Hughes/Border/Taylor/S Waugh would be awesome - make it a set of 8 and 1:200 odds (100 of each) and it would make buying a box worthwhile.

Futera had a great spread of inserts and the Decider series was the best yet - why did Select move away from this so much and go the way they have? Sketch cards may appeal to kids but not to adults surely?

At the end of the day, while 1:15 and 1:25 inserts make it interesting for most of us when we buy a few packets passing by a newsagent, the real reason we all collect is to live in hope of pulling the super high-end cards - that is where Select have neglected the serious collectors over the past few years IMHO.

No sketches, no gems, love the idea of the past captain sigs and the dual autos. harbajan singh and andrew symonds, dual auto monkey redemption card.

the thing about select is they wont do international players. That means deals withe cricket boards and player associations from those other countries. futera was able to do things similar in the 90s because they were wealthier and international. Select is just australian.

The Marsh/Lillee dual auto is surely still the best cricket auto ever produced. Great looking card and two of the all-time greats.

I know it won't happen but I would love a WSC series to be released with all players who have represented Australia at WSC/ODI level. I think there have been about 170-180, which would be a challenging base set to put together. They could do a parallel platinum set and make special gold cards of the best ever 11 (or 12), and then have sigs of the best 2 or 3 of each decade.

Now that would be something to get excited about!!

i think they should employ ozcardtrader as there new design team. Some great ideas here, love the odi idea mate. if they actually implemented some of these ideas they could probably convince me to get back into cricket collecting.

I din't collect 2008/9 cards. Too artificial and cheap looking.
I liked the IKON sets in recent issues.
How about an "IMPACT" card.
