The Fantail Story Time: #82 is the first year(1982) Bobby Fulton played 1st Grade. The following year played for Manly. Co incidently #82 is also Fulton's Winning Percentage as Australia's Rugby League Coach.

1982 was the last year he coached Easts First Grade. He was Easts Captain-Coach in 1979 (his last season as a player). His first season of First Grade was 1966.

Actually your right on the 1982 not being his first grade debut(my stuff up). my research has it in 1965 not 1966(this was his NSWRFL-MANLY) and it was for the West Wollongong team. Finally player year was 1979,at Eastern Suburbs, as player/coach. Played eight games before knee injury ended playing career but already the start of what would be a successful coaching career.

He won his last grand final as coach of Manly in 1996. Does anyone know when he last coached at rep and NSWRFL????

G'day Steve,

At a guess I would say his rep coaching career ended when Arko stepped down as Charman of the ARL which would have been at the end of the Super League era, so 1997 / 98.

What a plush job coaching Australia would have been as your 82% winning stat proves, so naturally it was jobs for the boys in those days.....good old Uncle Arko.

Cheers
Ross
