2006 Top Prospect no signature Error?

Just wondering if anyone has come across any top prospect cards from the 2006 select release that were not signed, I opened a box yesterday and got a travis burns that was not signed.

Does this add any value to the card or should i send it into select to get it replaced?

Definitely something different there and rarer = more value.

There are a few Manly collectors around that may well be interested @Wellsie

I remember someone on eBay (8088edge?) selling an Arthur Beetson sig from the 2005 set that hadn't been signed, hyping it up as a rarity.

Personally I'd have rather had one that had been signed, especially now Arthur is no longer with us.

But with a more common Top Prospect, this might be worth a little bit more than a signed one, just for curiosity value.

I have an AFL Melbourne premiership commemorative card that is numbered 405/400, however I have had little to no interest in it since I picked it up, which was in 2009 I think.

Personally I think error cards when they are higher end ones, would be worth either less, I mean think of the arthur beetson legend signature, without his sig, I just dont see the value in it. However low end inserts or even base cards are potentially worth much more(as a percentage).

For sig cards, to have them unsigned, I sort of think they lose the appeal, if the signature was of a diff player, that would be an interesting situation. Imagine Shane Webke signed the Arthur Beetson card instead of his own card (they were both redemption sigs that year)... Although interesting, I think it would only really increase in value if the player signing is of higher interest than the original player, i.e. Arthur Beetson signed Webke's card

Of course, thats just my 2c

Well the thing is you could probably create it yourself by taking a rag and some alcohol or whatever to the card and rubbing the sig off. Then flog it off as a rare unsigned. So for me, I wouldn't be interested. I can see that some would though.

The 405/400 sounds more appealing to me! That's a bit of a blunder.

I have a couple of unsigned ones myself not of burns but diff players from 02 and 03 i think, hard to say if they are worth more or less.the only one that jnterests me alot was the asotasi future force.

I think definitely real top end why would you want to pay more for unsigned. If i'm forking out $500 plus i want it to be perfect condition.

I wasn't real happy when I opened the box and the best card from the box wasn't signed. Wasn't sure if it was classed as an error card which is why I created the post.

I'm not sure they're worth more, but travis burns wasn't worth much to start with.

I have a roosters one from 2009 (if anyone wants to purchase it? Lol)...

Each to their own. Everyone has a different idea of collecting. If there were cowboys ones, I'd want them!

If you are unhappy, I would suggest contacting select and explaining the situation and providing the box details if you still have it. They may not be able to do anything, but at the very least I would see what they could do

How do they replace a signature card? Like do they give you a different one, like do they keep extras or something... I am confused on how they could replace this type of card?

I received a cricket redemption from Select that was unsigned

They ended up sending me a replacement with the same numbering, and this time it was signed.

And they never asked for the original one back ...

They carry spares. Any replacements they get restamped to match that number. They replaced a Dynasty LLG last month for me, not a signature, but same princple.

They ought to keep and destroy the original.

Wow, I didn't know that... I thought the numbers came pre-stamped/printed on as part of the manufacturing process, very interesting to know
