Hi guys I have always wondered why these cards are so expensive....does anyone know why?

Limited to only 60

Also based on the scanlens cards so are quite popular. A lot of sets have also been broken up over the years

The Brad Fittler card would be worth heaps with the incorrect spelling of his surname.
By the way, has anyone got a complete set of any Scanlens release (I particular loved the 1978 year) that is in mint condition and up for sale. Prepared to pay big $$$$

Pretty sure I remember it being mentioned at the time that there were promos for that set, but I don't think I ever managed to find out which players they were actually of. So it's interesting to see one, they did exist!

The Fittler spelling error was in the set when Select released it, they then offered a replacement for anyone who sent the original back to them, once they realised their mistake. So ... it's impossible to say which one is rarest, but if it was a Knights card I'd have been tracking down one of each.

The error fittler is in a set I bought off a dealer when he was selling up. Interestingly the set contained both fittler cards, error & the correct one & both have the same Number for that set...

That is very strange ... seems a bit dodgy from Select, surely if you got a replacement they should have destroyed the original ... Given they are numbered.

I asked the same question to dealer & he said that he had bought the set from Select a couple of years after the release of them in 2007 & that the set was reserved for someone who never went ahead with the purchase & he put it down to human error where they just forgot to remove the error card when they replaced it in the set they still had in stock....

Lots of dodgy stuff happening at Select with numbers.....
:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Only thing dodgy is your statement.............:worthy::worthy::worthy:..
Their was one incident only & it was with the 2006 Die cuts where someone got their hands on a un number players set & had some of them stamped to complete their set. Nothing to do with Select it was an individual collector as per their statement that was on their site last year....

On the note of the 2006 legend die cuts, if anyone has a spare Brett Kenny, please let me know?

It was dodgy how they never released the number ones, and kept certain numbers for certain collectors they were tight with, though.

Sorry George - I forgot you are the oracle on select....

Then again...... Maybe, Just maybe you don't know everything?
