I've been sitting on a case of each for the lasts 6 years. Not to sure if I should bust them or sit on them a bit longer & eventually sell to fund further collection. I've got a master set of each of these ( so I don't need any of cards from them ). If I needed any cards from both series I'd have no hesitation in busting them. Just wondering what members on hear think about the $$$ on them would be if sold today or in a couple of years?? Any advise would be much appreciated.

These are extremely hard to find these days and no doubt will elevate in price over the years as a complete case. Don't bust them. If you can find a buyer for complete case that is the way to go. I would say there would not be many left like this as the people that bought the left over stock in those days have busted most of them by now. I would imagine that Alan would possibly have a couple left out of all the dealers that got them.

Thanks Moz. These cases were bought as an investment to be sold as boxes or case lots. I was just wondering if the value will still keep going up or has the bottom dropped out & will keep going down??

I would imagine these would fill super quick. I stopped after 2001 Impact until 2010 and the furthest back I busted was 2005 Power.

I always heard 2003 XL was a good bust for the big hits but if you missed a hit was a bit ordinary.

The other problem I have I miss busting boxes & cases. Since ESP have taken over the NRL I haven't busted much of their product, Just bought it of Ebay & on Ozcard & miss the thrill of busting..

Many collectors like that now, especially with dealers offering case busts and multiple box busts.

Master collectors are few and far between and most just collect their team so these busts are an ideal way to do it. The whole market seems to be really low at the moment but ESP cards just do not hold value. Even the MOJO sets, 1 per case and /40 are struggling to move for $250.

Busting boxes is also my favorite part of the hobby

I personally didn't see the value in Mojo's (after all it's just another parallel set with a number on it) & lets face it if they didn't have them in the cases the product would of been a bigger flop than it was!!

I also love Centenary, the best release ever IMO. I still need all the Immortal signatures to complete my master (probably never going to happen) but in the meantime I grabbed a second folder and started another set of everything up to the sketches.

I have never busted a classic box, been tempted but have to stay to my budget somehow.

maybe @Diggaz TC or @redtorana can give you an estimate as sellers or may have contacts that could.
I am sure if you did decide to move that a case share would sell quickly and you could strike up a deal with a seller or admin.
I know I would be interested in a box or 2 if you did decide to do a case share.

Personally, I'd keep the cases. I've done plenty of regretful things with cards/collections. Once it's gone or broken up, that's that.

I also have a massive soft for 2003 as it was the year I got back in to collecting after the lull of 1998/99 and not having a team in 2000/01 and living in the UK in 2002.

First pack I ever got was a Future Force Roy Asotasi. At the time I was still catching up for the 3 years I missed but was a bit who the ? is Roy Asotasi. Lucky I kept him all these years. :) So if you ever bust up the 2003, drop me a line. I'd be in for a box.

Were they both 12 boxes to a case?

2003 is a great release with plenty of high end hits; Tribute Signatures of two of the greats, Legend signature of the icons of the game, Jersey cards and Jersey Signatures....great set.

2001.........Langlands Legend Signature say no more.

Personally I would think you would get approx $250-270 a box for 2003 and maybe a touch more for 2001 so about $3000-$3500 a case. I think if you busted them and then tried to sell the cards you would be stuck with a lot of cards. Selling as a case might get you a small premium if you could find a buyer with that sort of coin. I would suggest that most collectors who collect master sets would, like yourself, have completed these set by now.

I hope the hobby picks up momentum but I'm not convinced new set collectors are coming into the hobby, so perhaps selling boxes would be the way to go.

Cheers
Ross
