Found 2 packs at a flea market
Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this!!
Chris Andersen Star Rookie #417A (Slight Corner Wrinkle)
Story time: Chris Andersen has always been one of my favorite players (ever since his Hornet days). I've wanted this card for probably 8 years now. This card was in the first pack. As soon as I opened the pack, I saw Chris Andersen on the back of the last card and I was in absolute shock.
What are the chances that out of two random packs I'd pull one of the rarest Chris Andersen cards in existence and a card I've always had on my "bucket list" ?!?!!?
For anyone that cares, this is the retail version of his Star Rookie card... meaning the 2 packs were retail (I was trying to figure that out when I was buying them). Chris Andersen was one of a select few players that had two variations to their card in the base set.... one card for Upper Deck Series 2 Retail Boxes and then a variation (different picture) for Upper Deck Series 2 Hobby Boxes. Both versions of his are a rare find.
Here is his 417B verison (the Hobby variation): 2001-02 Upper Deck #417 - Chris Andersen - COMC Online Marketplace
Sadly, both packs had corners issues in the bottom left (looked like they had been dropped or smushed against something), so the Chris Andersen and all the base cards came out a little odd, but still perfect for my PC!
