1996 World Cup box - JACKPOT!!!!

Well to drown my sorrows after selling my Mark Waugh Premier Batsman signature card I finally caved in and busted the box of 96 World Cup that has been sitting in my display cabinet for near on 6 months - and boy am I glad I did - it was jam-packed full of inserts!!

After pulling 4 tribute cards (both Boons and both Richardsons are consecutive numbers, and the Boons came in the same pack!) I thought that was going to be it - until I found a Mark Waugh premier batsman redemption (85/100) in the 4th last pack!!! WOOHOO!!!!

Shame I can't redeem it, but still it was a nice little find indeed.

All inserts are for sale - yes, even the Waugh redemption.......for the right price!

Great bust Smashed the odds on those tribute cards (1:25 pks), but a damn shame about the Mark Waugh

Its a great set this one - perhaps one of the best when taking into account commons, inserts, and this super sig. (oh how we miss Futera ) How did you go with commons??

Thanks Liam.....still filthy about only 2 retros - had Futera not gone under I'd be penning a letter to Mr Futera letting my disappointment be known.

And yes, it is the same box I was pimping around town a couple of months back. I tried to offload it to you, Daz (BLOWN8), John (VMX)....in the end I had to just bust the damn thing open myself!

I have had the urge to bust one of these boxes for a long time, I think it is about time. I went to cardzone on friday, their Futera stock 'seems' to be dwindling.

I'm not surprised - everyone on this site has been buying it all!!

No dubt it is cheaper to buy the individual cards, but the thrill of opening a box is something that can't be topped!! :v:

Their 98/99 Hobby stock is getting low too! A couple of weeks ago they only had 10 cases left! ie. 100 boxes...

Brad are the consecutively numbered Boony's and the Pigeon retro still available???

with the products that Select have been releasing lately no wonder Futera stock is getting down, all the collectors have switched back to the old Futera and i dont blame them.

In the last 3 years ive brought
1 x 97/98 select
2 07/08 select
1 x 08/09 select

2 x 95/96 TNL futera
3 x 03/04 ESP Ikon
1 x 2002 topps

considering that Select are the only company here to release a new series in this time its quite funny that ive brought 2 more boxes of the older stuff. if the select cricket box prices were closer to where they should be i might have another crack at 07/08 for the redemptions, but at over $100 a box theres a huge chance of a big loss.
in 10 years time this current select stuff will be still overflowing from stores like cardzone. im actually thinking about another futera box myself, just not too sure which one to go for this time

Those Retrospective cards are nice looking as is the Premier Batsmen! unlucky about being unredeemable but still a nice one to have!
