03/04 Ikon sigs

I only have 2 of the 03/04 Ikon sigs - my Glenn McGrath one has a watermark stamp in the middle saying "CERTIFIED IKON AUTHENTIC", but my Andy Bichel sig has no watermark.

Is this a known variation or are all of the sigs meant to have this stamped impression in the card? What has everyone else got?

mmmmm interesting. these was someguy on this site that had the whole 03/04 IKON signed set. sorry can't remember his name though

All my cards (inc Bichel) have the stamp but have to hold up to the light to see. None are as prominent as the McGrath, though. Ron

My McGrath is not very prominent either - it took me 15 snaps to get it to show up properly in the pic!

My Bichel was a $10 BIN from ebay - maybe Andy is putting his colour printer to good effect now that his career is over to make ends meet!!

Hasn't Andy got the top job of coaching PNG?. Any was a much underrated player. I had a lot of time for him.

He was underrated - there would also be no better maker of orange cordial in the country!

both my McGrath and Clarke have the watermark stamped into the card.

Just checked my Ikons and this is what I found.

R Ponting x 1 - Has stamp
J Gillespie x 1 - has stamp
A Symonds x 1 - has stamp
M Clarke x 14 - all with stamps
A Bichel x 1 - NO Stamp
G McGrath x 1 - NO Stamp
M Hayden x 1 - NO Stamp
B Lee x 1 - has stamp
N Bracken x 1 - has stamp

From memory, there were some end of run or extra cards that hit the market (ebay) a year or so ago. I was told they were spares, not officially stamped. They may have even been issued to some of the resellers as promo or give away cards.

IMO still worth having in the collection but if you were collecting the whole set then you would want the stamped cards to keep the value of the set.

Didn't know about these unstamped cards so double checked mine and all 7 of them have the certification stamp on them. I just need McGrath and Lee for the set, so will definitely be making sure they have this stamp!

I knew that Andrew Symonds auto came in two variations (stamped and half not stamped) first time I have seen another players card without a stamp.

The rest of the cards in my set have all been stamped. Interesting card you have there Brad.

I had a feeling you would have to chase them all down now!

I know I have said it a hundred times, but damn I hate unnumbered sig cards and for this very reason! Always the chance of overrun or cards like this!
I also saw in another thread that there are platinum cards doing the rounds that have been handsigned ie. not included with the set but handed out signed by the players... Frustrating!

Hate to tell you this mate but there have been some unsigned signature cards floating around too!! AAARRRGh!! When i put together the signed master set i deliberatly ignored the 'unstamped' signatures for the sake of my sanity!

Also because the signature was the top card in the pack you could tell which pack had the card by feeling it!!

I fear that the unstamped cards were a result of poor quality control and were plainly forgotten when the oompa loompas were stamping the rest!

very interesting. didn't know there was any diffference with the auto cards. i thought they were all stamped
have just looked at mine and all 9 have the stamp, most can be seen very clearly as you can see in the photos.

Yeah I also had no idea that there were unstamped cards doing the rounds. I have 8 of the 9 (just missing the Lee) and all are stamped...
