Appears it might have been me as it was counting the number of views on a thread as the highest score - have removed that now - see if that has fixed it.

It's an inbuilt thing into the forum software - it's supposed to rank recent threads higher but clearly that's not working properly. I'll do some more investigation and log a ticket with them if required.
