TMNT Collection

Scratch is from 1993, not the original 1988 ones. The original ones from 1988 are called 10 backs, as the cardboard that backed these had 10 different figures on the back, thats from 1988. See below

The way i see it is like this, i might not be 100% right though, but the first figures were made with 2 heads, clearly a soft and hard version. Now one of them came before the other, meaning thats the first series released. Not sure if it was the soft or hard heads that came first. You can tell the difference, im not sure but i think one of the variants you can see a visable seem where the head has been made using 2 pieces, not one piece like the other variant. For anyone thats interested there is a website called The Technodrome, its a forum based in the US, and there are some seriously crazy collections over there, but also some very knowledgeable people who are very willing to help. Im just getting back into TMNT collecting so this is where ive been doing a lot of research.

how much did you pay for your donatello?

My new mailday is the 10 back 1988 Donatello, so I have both the 1988 10 back and 1990 Donatello's still in packaging, picked them both up for about $40 each, might have been a few dollars less. Im on a mission to get all the original 10 backs, 2 down 8 to go :)

I offered a American Ebayer $68 US for his 1988 donatello but he counter offered me $75 US so I'll give it a miss if you picked up yours for $40. Would like to get them but I'm not over paying for them

no idea how u found them for $40 in sealed card? thats an amzing price mate.

Awesome looking collection you've started there mate. Great deal on the carded donny. I've tried to get back into collecting some of the originals but always lose track of it with so many other hobbies to keep on top of.

I remember nabbing a few of the different remakes over the last decade or so. Favourites outside of the original guys would be the comic inspired NECA figures: http://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_042308a.htm
Beautiful articulation on these ones.

The new nickelodeon figures are pretty cool too. Picked most of them up recently and they are a nice little throwback to the original series. Have you checked out the retro ones that have come out recently? Not so fond of the scale and how the original turtles look but Rocksteady and Bebop look pretty cool... http://toynewsi.com/news.php?itemid=19980

Heres the last one i picked up http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TMNT-198...8580?pt=AU_Action_Figures&hash=item2a2a91b514
Dont pay too much for them guys. There is a lot of overpriced stuff out there, you just need to be patient and wait for it.
Heres one from the US http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Teenage-...5959?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item2a2a4119d7
You might get them a little cheaper from the US but you will also pay a lot more in postage.

dude there some amazing prices!!!!! good on ya

Darren (and others) - this had opened up a can of worms.....or an emptying of wallets! :-) I am now going to start an E.T/ALF collection for christ sake! Bloody childhood nostalgia!!

I was a beast war and transformer collector and I stopped to collect cards , now I want to damn collect more lol this is not good , I joined 3 transformer forums last night lol already don't $200 damage haha

New addition, 1988 Foot Knucklehead, loose with winch that still works :) I already had the Foot Soldier, but had to put him there for the picture.

With all this nostalgia and revisting of our youth...it's enough to make a man break out his 1982 Topps Smurfs tattoo sheets :-)

Here is a favourite TMNT mailday so far. From my childhood i cant think of a more played with and loved toy than my TMNT sewer lair playset. I picked this one up a few weeks ago, its not complete but just wanted it for display purposes. It needs a clean up, which will happen this weekend, then i'll get my display happening. I have another nice mailday or two waiting at home, i'll post them over the weekend.

Enjoy
