How much is your whole card collection worth?

Had to take out the ol' calculator for this one ... I own 22 cards ... 12 are worth money ... So, I would say, right below $3,000. Remember kids, It's quality, not quantity.

Can i ask how much you pay per year for this??

I don't know the actual component amount because it is included with my home and other contents insurance. I would estimate this component is probably around $200 per annum, but I could be wrong. I'm sure an online quote would answer your question.

Mine is worth about probably $500.

However, I would still list it on ebay as TRUE FULL OF 1/1's, RARE OPPORTUNITY, INVEST NOW!! THIS COULD BE YOUR LAST CHANCE TO GET A BRANDON ROY EXQUISITE BEFORE HIS KNEES REALLY CLAP OUT ON HIM AND HE NEVER PLAYS ANOTHER GAME!!! BID NOW!!!

And list it as a "Buy it now" of $8000.

Not to harp on about it because it's been said a few times on this thread but to me my collection is priceless. 22 years in the making and I'm still not done. I mean seriously who wants 5000 Chicago Cubs cards from the 80's 90's all the way to now? yes there's some "valuable" ones in there but if I was to even try and sell them only a Cubs collector would buy them and that could take a long time. I'm a firm believer in the fact that your cards are only worth what a fellow collector will pay for them.

Going off eBay and by just keeping a keen eye on what these cards sell for I would say my collection across NBA and MLB would be worth 15-17k...........maybe.

i did a count recently and a value of my collection (for insurance) based on ebay selling prices.. ntot quite $10k for james harden collection..

i surprised myself, cos i know i havent spent that much..

i've stitch the insurance co up for $15k if anything happens, due to 1/1's.. lol

this question has 4 answers

1 What are they worth to me?...priceless
2 What are they worth according to Beckett...no idea due to there not being able to price so many due to scarcity
3 What are the worth on the open market (honestly)..what ever someone else is prepared to pay at any given time
4 What are the worth on the open market (dishonestly)..what ever I can manage to shill them up to. Not that I would ever take this option but an unscrupulous person might so needs to be included.

Exactly Garth!!!!!

I have insurance on my collection and they asked for some sort of concrete value and they accepted Beckett. The only problem is that they do not honor the cards that are not in Beckett (TONS NOT PRICED DUE TO SCARCITY!!). I also have tons of Proofs, Oddballs and film negatives. They had me make a spread sheet with all of the serial numbers and beckett prices as well as the ones without prices. It was tough to get insurance on collectables due to the constant shifting of the market. Beckett value of the cards I own is: $10,222.25

Interesting thread. I'm surprised that too many ppl are scared to scrutinise what they've spent and assume happy to take the risk of losing it all. I have never insured my collection but this year that is to change. I'll be photographing and catalogueing what I have for insurance purposes. If it means changing insurer then so be it - just not worth the risk. I can easily work out what I've spent as I've written it all down for the last 5 years but as for value I don't know but better to over than under insure

One important thing to note is your catalogue should be somewhere offsite. Sometimes people create the odd Access database and fail to realise that if the house burns down the PC is probably going to go with it and hence the catalogue proving your collection existed goes up in smoke. Either have a fire-proof safe to store your evidence in or if you're using a database, use an online one if feasible. I have mine on a MySQL database linked to my website and I take frequent backups and store them on both my home and office PC. Never can have enough proof.

hey Guys

Not to be cocky but I have got about $300,000 worth of AFL cards I have every redemption and draft signature pluss heaps more:) will be posting scans shorty

I believe my collection wold be valued at approx 8-10k and is insured for $15k. I'm insured with comminsure and they do not charge any more for collections, just need to specify on your policy abd have evidence of ownership (photo bucket, ebay rcpt's etc) if you ever had to make a claim

really? call me a naive nba collector, but would someone really pay $300k for afl cards?? ****

i collect houses.. i only have 1 so far.. its worth about $450k atm. but hopefully that will rise in the next few years since its only 8km from the CDB! ;)

Got a fair few wildcards and a prize wildcard from teamcoach plus best of the bests, superstar gems etc. so AFL wise max. 1k probably a bit less in my eyes. I've probably gotten 30-40 packs a year so... $600 is the amount I have busted roughly, came out on top!

NBA wise! Got a Rose auto, Wade auto, Paul auto, Lopez rookie year patches and autos, ive got a just about all the 2009-10 crown royale royalty GU. in summary some sweet stuff. :D I'd say... $400 or so?

NOW ONTO THE GOOD STUFF!!!! :kick:

My justin bieber signed CONCERT WORN hat and poster! PRICELESS ;)

hehehhe
