Tradebait Fevola

dermie used a great analogy during grand final week with regards to fev...

gary ablett senior played at hawthorn during his first yr of footy and a variety of things didnt go to plan during that time. obviously the hawks were on the verge of having a great side as they virtually had all the pieces in place bar a few. they were aware of what a precocious talent he was but decided to move him on due to him not doing things the way things were being done at hawthorn, allan jeans was tough like that. they sent him packing as they thought it would be BEST FOR THE CLUB that he was no longer there.

obviously gary senior went on to have a sensational career and became arguably the best footballer to ever lace em up... but most importantly, never won a flag. hawthorn on the other hand went on to play in 7 consecutive grand finals and win 5 premierships over the next 10 or so years.

i believe carlton need to take that same leap of faith with fev and trade him while his value is very high. if he comes back to carlton and has a crap season or is injured for the whole year, his value will drop and the blues will kick themselves for not doing it... while it may not seem like it now, it happens everywhere where someone else steps up and shows some leadership or goalkicking or whatever other qualities that you may not have been previously aware of based on lack of opportunity... where there is one player excelling (ie while the fev show exists), there are always 1 or 2 others waiting in the wings for their opportunity

the last thing they want to do is look back wondering, what if???

Good post, We would have loved to kept Cousins? But how many chances does a guy get?

Only West Coast fans hate Judd, the rest of us are indifferent.

True, but here is another reason why he is a **** captain

"I would say more along the lines that a truly good leader, who had a star player with a known alcohol problem, should be discouraging an early start rather than drinking and gambling with him 6 hours before a major event, where he knew the spotlight would be on them both.

It's not bad behaviour from Judd at all in isolation - but **** leadership from someone who (as captain) is supposed to set a good example to his players, and look out for them. I'm amazed that the media hasn't been all over it."

BYE BYE FEV..... his off to the lions

THE BRISBANE Lions have landed trade week's biggest prize, snaring Carlton's Brendan Fevola and a second round draft pick (No.27) in exchange for Lachie Henderson and the Lions' first round pick (No.12).

Earlier this week the Lions had offered Daniel Bradshaw and Michael Rischitelli in a straight swap for Fevola, with the two players being shown around Visy Park by Carlton coach Brett Ratten on Thursday.

But the deal fell through, reportedly after Rischitelli declined a move to Melbourne.

Henderson played seven matches this season for a total of 15 since debuting in 2008.

He made one appearance in the opening nine rounds, before playing five games in a row from rounds 10 to 14.

Henderson missed three matches from rounds 17 to 19 with a foot injury. He returned for the final round of the home-and-away season, but did not play in the Lions finals campaign this year

Wow! Not even Bradshaw in the deal! So how do the Lions work with Bradshaw, Fev and Brown up forward...that's a nice attack proposition if you can find the crumbers to sit at their feet.

Yeah makes no sense to me either, they have shot themselves in the foot big time. and just as they were building themselves back up to be a premiership chance now this. i think sucked into judd, he went there because he thought there was a chance of another premiership in the next few years, now no chance at all while judds still playing. if i was a carlton supporter i would be ripping my membership up and sending it straight back!!!

Carlton have gone from a top 8 team for the next season, to who knows now??

Who is going to be on the receiving end of their midfield now??
O'Hailpin, Kreuzer .. targets, but definetely no Fev!

I know they wanted/needed to get rid of Fev,
but they still need a decent full forward to be a contending team!

wowsers what an embarrassment of a deal for carlton!!! all that trade talk and THATS the best they can come up with?? brisbane raped carlton in a grand way... they have done exceptionally well during trade week

if i was a carlton member, id be livid

Obviously Bradshaw goes back into their backline.....
