posted in card disscussions thought I should post here as well sent an email to select australia about mistake cards & series 2 NRL cards and got a reply from Di at Select Australia saying there would be a 2nd series and should be due out at the end of next month.

yeh i am looking forward to this series i think it will be a good one.

i have a feeling there will be some sort of rep set of inserts this year but they will not be that easy to complete though.

The 2009 series 2 info for the AFL cards has been released so no doubt the series 2 NRL info won't be too far away.
The only useful info at the moment is that the series will most likely be called NRL Classic

Tax.....good strategy.

My strategy is to sneak into the kids bedroom when they are asleep and take some of the 100s of toys they no longer use and sell them on eBay..... and if I get caught tell them its for the poor kids.

Man this is awesome news!
Although I still have a small gripe or 2 about S2 cards from each year :

1 - They 'cut' the player from the photo, thus never allowing us to see the whole photo. Why? It's much better seeing the other players in the background, and sometimes the blurred crowd too! This has irked me since the 2001 NRL Impact set. GRRR!!!

2 - This year, they've really stolen the Pinnacle brand and logo from the late and great Baseball Card Company of the late 80's and 90's, judging by the look of the album cover. (To make it more interestingly suspicious, Pinnacle Brands introduced a Premium Baseball Card set called 'Select' in 1993!)

Anyway, great news, now that the stress of getting up early each day just to get the Telegraph cards before they run out, (no easy feat for a shiftworker) is finished, I can concentrate on the Series 2 release, which will finally have all players with their new teams, pictured in actual games, not training sessions. (How Michael Weyman got left out of the 09 Telegraph set is beyond me. They put players like Dan Hunt in front of him! Amazing....)

Cant wait!

tbh they better do a lot better then last years set. Centenary were a more expensive version of Champions.

Does the promo cards and flyer come to your house or do you have to get them from your cards shops.

I tryed it as well and i got the same thing. but i got busted putting them on ebay.com

Heheh well looks like it is all the old and not need 09 nrl cards

I think adding double troubles to series 2 is a cop out and i will be very disappointed if the NRL follow the AFL cards regarding these. Im always so over Champions by the time series 2 hits and now it seems like Champions have invaded series 2.
If they were going to follow anything from previous AFL releases, i wish it would be the Platinum Draft Signatures /100 (NRL equivalent- Platinum Top Prospect/Future Force).
Its a great idea and tbh 260-650 is way too many.
Please Select, Leave Series 1 Rubbish out of all Series 2 Releases.
Finallly as an adult collector, Select really are making me lose passion for this hobby.

Hi Foldee,

I agree with many of the things you mention... especially the Double Trouble running from Series 1 to Series 2. It's just as annoying as continuing the card numbers for the old Future Force from year to year (and in AFL they do it for the Premiership Commemorative cards).

I'd love to see some REALLY low release cards like in the AFL Pinnacle... Captain Signatures limited to /60.
