Jimmy Bartel for mine.

He is a player, that in past years, has garnered votes well, even when he wasnt the dominant player he is today. That said, Ablett will get close and the Cornes Brothers, Harvey and Brown would be my top 6.

Go Bartoz!

Boomer Harvey i think....

I like Jonathon Brown, i hope he gets it, Sam Fisher might be a bit of a dark horse (in my biased st kilda mind anyway) lol

Out of Brown, Harvey, Bartell & Ablett. Brown polls extremely well like Judd and Ablett has never polled well.

I picked Chad Cornes cause while I believe Gary Ablett Jnr would beat him hands down, he's going to get alot of votes stolen by Bartel, Chapman, Steve Johnson and the like. My smokey would be Jonathon Brown.

Cornes or Harvey, but i think harvey has the better chance because he doesnt really have to many people in the team to take the votes of him.

i chose browny but i thinks it will be boomer!

heres a question, when has a player won the brownlow and gone on to win the grand final?

cheers

Ivor Warne Smith in 1926 (he was also the first dual Brownlow Medalist) when Melbourne defeated Collingwood.

In 1927, the Coventry brothers did a double double; Syd won the Brownlow and led the Pies to premiership glory, while Gordon kicked 97 goals to win the Leading goalkicker award.

1929, Albert Collier won a Brownlow and a Premiership in the same year.

A year later his brother, Harry Collier won a premiership with the Pies, and 59 years later, was awarded the Brownlow Medal he lost on countback to Stan Judkins.

After the overhaul of the Brownlow Medal voting system in 1931 (from 1 vote for best on ground to the current day 3-2-1 style), it took 16 years for it happen again; Bert Deacon won the Brownlow and then the Flag with Carlton.

Bernie Smith of Geelong was the next Brownlow medalist to win a flag, as well as the Catters emulated the Pies of 1927 by winning the minor premiership, the flag, brownlow and leading goalkicker (george goninon)

in 66, the Ian Stewart's second consective Brownlow medal was joined by Saint Kilda's only flag.

The AFL's Big Dipper won a flag and Brownlow in the same week; the first to do after the Medal count was shifted to its current date of the monday before GF day.

Since 86, its happened 3 times;

Gavin Wanganeen (Essendon-1993)
Jason Akermanis (Brisbane Lions-2001)
Simon Black (Brisbane Lions-2002)

as well as Corey McKernan 'winning' in 96.

History lesson finished.

I think more interesting would be the list of brownlow winners who played in a losing GF side... like Woewodin... and others I cannot be sure of... lol did Goodes win last year if so him LOL

Some people are never happy

Marcus Whelan from Collingwood was the first to win a Brownlow and play in a losing Grand Final, in 1939.

Don Cordner, who won the 1st Brownlow Medal after the 2nd World War, played in losing Grand Final in 1946, after winning the Brownlow Medal.

Ian Stewart was on the list of Premiership and Brownlow Medalists in the same year, but he first was member of this list, after the Saints lost in 1965, when he won his 1st Medal.

In the 1970's, North Melbourne won 2nd flags, but Keith Greig (1974) and Malcolm Blight (1978) joined this list of players to win Brownlows and lose a Grand Final in the same year.

Peter Moore, who won 2 Brownlow medals with 2 teams (Collingwood in 1979 and Melbourne in 1984), also lost a Grand Final after winning the Brownlow at the start of week in 1979.

The Rat, John Platten, lost the 1987 Grand Final after picking up the Brownlow with Tony Lockett (the Coleman-Brownlow Medalist for all of those on the Brown Brownlow Bandwagon)

Interestingly, the Healy Brothers managed to win a Brownlow (Gerard Healy) and captain a losing Grand Final (Greg Healy) between them in 1988.

In the last 20 years, its happened 6 times, after it took 60 years to happen 7 times

1989-Paul Couch (Geelong)
1997-Robert Harvey (Saint Kilda)
2000-Shane Woewodin (Melbourne)
2003-Nathan Buckley (Collingwood; managed to win a Norm Smith Medal tho)
2005-Ben Cousins (WCE)
2006-Adam Goodes (Sydney)

History Lesson 2 finished.
