Collingwood 2007 Offical Season Thread.

WOW, it's amazing how many people are willing to write-off the Pies after just one bad game. It was a Shocker, but the Pies have been Up for 16 weeks without playing one bad game, so we were due to have a downer at some stage. Our worst game prior to the Brisbane match, was against the Cats, and we only lost that game by 16 points. It's better for the Pies to have a bad game now, than in the finals. Our worst game last year was against the Bulldogs in the Finals, and there were no second chances after that. Sometimes a team can learn a lot more from a 'Big Loss' than they do from a 'Honorable Loss'. It's worth mentioning that it was only a couple of weeks ago that Port thrashed West Coast by 91 points, and look how the Eagles have bounced back in the last 2 weeks. Good teams can have a bad game, but the sign of a Great team is how they respond in the weeks to follow. On the flip-side Hawthorn was going really well until it got thrashed by Adelaide 4 Weeks ago, and the Hawks just haven't been the same since. It will be a challenge, but i'm confident that the Pies can bounce back to their best before the Finals. Good news for the Pies is that James Clement and Rhyce Shaw are a chance to return this week, and Sean Rusling kicked 5 Goals in the Reserves, so he could be a bit of a 'Wild Card' for the Pies come finals time. Hopefully the Collingwood players are switched on for this weeks match against Carlton, becuase we can't afford to just turn up expecting to win, like we did against Brisbane. We are still some chance of finishing in the Top 4, but we will probably have to win 4 of the remaining 5 games. If the Pies are still struggling in a few weeks time, i'll be eating Humble Pie, or should i say Humble magPIE. Go the Pies.

Are you telling me you played badly against geelong. Your kidding arent ya>?. You got beaten by a better team. DEAL WITH IT!!

If you watched the game both teams played terrible footy. Turnovers and skill errors were a major factor.

*Another note Pendles injury is not as bad as it first seemed he is only out for 2-3 weeks :).

you seemed to forget your QB bashing haha.. And if Neita plays every game up until we vs you in rd 20, he will play his 300th for the dees against you guys. This is more historic because he will be the first demon to reach 300 games. If we beat you with the young side we have been fielding you guys dont deserve to be in the finals haha

Anyone still thinking Collingwood is up there with Geelong and the Eagles?

Bloody terrible performance tonight!

christ... who said they were up with geelong and the eagles lol.. yes they're a good outfit, but there's 3 teams that seperate themselves from the rest.. and its not carlton/richmond or melbourne.. its port/west coast/geelong.. i would have said 4 teams, but the hawks are looking dull.. though they'll turn it around this week surely..

It's no fluke that the lions beat the pies, the lions are up and coming, kind of a few steps behind port.. i'd love to see chris johnson back in the side (if he isn't already, though I thought he was injured).

The pies wheren't prepared for the lions game plan, though even if they were ready they still couldnt have stopped that..

Pies fans relax...They have the easiest draw of all the top 8 teams for the remainder of the season and should walk in a top 4 finish...

Love to see them play Geelong in a 1vs4 matchup at the MCG away from the cats beloved skilled stadium....throw that home field advantage out the window and get ready for your first taste of blood people...That would be a cracker of a double chance matchup

hot pies at the G boyz and girls

No dis-respect intended, Geelong is the best team we've played this year by a mile. The reason we played badly against Geelong is because the Cats just didn't allow us to play well. Geelong beat us fair and square, and we were never a chance of winning that game. The 16 Point margin was flattering to the Pies in that match, and if Cam Mooney had of kicked straight the margin should have been over 40 points. Geelong is on a roll at the moment and they are looking a lot like the Essendon team of 2000. There are some footy experts out there suggesting that it would be good for Geelong to lose a match before the finals, just to relieve the pressure.

The last time we won a flag we lost to the bottom team that year (fitzroy) and it was their only win for the season. Get on the tigers at $11!!!

thats the attitude.. hopefully the pies take that approach too.. stroll right into the finals.. and stroll right out again like last year :) keep it comin..

I can't argue that at all unfortunately

They played with no heart or desire against the doggies in that game last year

While being a die-hard Maggies fan....i think really overall expectation on progressing deep into the finals isnt going to be that high.

Having blooded a large number of youngsters and the veterans returning gradually, but likely to struggle with match fitness and practice, i would disapointed if they had expectations that a flag was beckoning..thats just my take, this added to the likely season ending injury Holland was reported to have.....i just think a finals appearance and also any number of wins will be a satisfactory outcome with the long term benefits this season has produced..

maybe we should sack our coach too? i mean we are trying to get into the finals? why not?

yeah give it a go.. everyone else is trying to enspire themselves into making the finals.. I assume your referring to essendon?

though you couldn't be cos he hasn't actually been sacked, his contract isn't going to be re-newed.. if he was sacked he'd be gone right now, or he'd have to be contracted next year and told he's not going to coach his final year of the contract.. surely you'd even know the difference between a sacking and not re-newing a contract... surely
