Just talking to Justin, and he inspired me to write this...
So blame him for my babbling!! ;)

Has anyone ever wondered, all these 1/1s that we have, Logomen, Letter Patches, etc, etc, all that we have, did you ever think, when busting cards 10 or so years ago (don't think too hard Jim, you were still in diapers mate  ), but did you ever imagine having these said cards...

Of all the markets in the WORLD....

Having a currency that started really shithouse when compared to the origination of most of these cards (the US), that we'd EVER own them??

I mean, there's cards here, that NO ONE else in the whole world, now think for a second, that's a big f-cking place..... HUGE infact.... that you're the only one holding that card (well, hopefully it's stored safely, and not got your greasy fingers all over it).

Pretty impressive aye!

My hat's off to my fellow Aussie collectors! =D> :worthy:

And by no means does this take anything away from any other collector around the world, I'm an aussie, and can only relate to my fellow Aussie Collectors.

Respect all over the world! :v:

Well, I tell ya.

The cards I see on these boards, and the way people go about their business, is really impressive.

I mean, some people's collections are superb. It takes a lot of effort and persistence to build the collections we do. Whether it's collecting all the cards of our player, or going about a set, or just going with a theme.

Lovely stuff :D

i think ya make some pretty good points there Mavs, ozcard members have some rare & fairly hard to get cards . I only have one 1/1 card and that is from the presspass legends set of Bill Russell i can tell you right now that is one card that wont be leaving my collection in a hurry.

Don't be hating.

The Youth is the future of the world :)

I will one day be supreme ruler of this forum!! jokes :p

Hahaha I agree with you though Scotty, although when I had my Shawn Marion Auto #ed 1/1 it didn't feel that great.

Probably because it was a cheap pick up! hahaha.

thanks to ebay cards are valued way below what you would pay for them if you multiplied the chance of pulling one x pack value etc... so ppl can get great cards!

I think its not just about the 1/1's and fancy autos (altho we so own in that department on this forum)... we have very dedicated collectors here!!
i am 99% sure that the two biggest rider card collectors are in aus (I'm only number 2 - wallace's buddy would have the better collection)... i think that is awesome as well.

Just the other day I was thinking how amazing it is that scotty's awesome harris collection is in tasmania!!

LOL, get Tassie on the map! ha ha ha. You orta pop down one day to see it in person!

There's plenty of dedicated collectors out there, and I'm sure that money is the end result of most of the collections we see.

But it's not always about spending the most to get the most.

We (Aussie) definately have a lot of collections that millions would be happy to have.

I also think that we only get to see a very small % of collections/cards out there, and the rest of the %'s are tucked away where no one can see them, and leaves us only with an imagination of what's not in PCs, and what's left in boxes to be busted!

I'll let you know next time I'm headed down south and we can sort something out cos I think it would be awesome to look at!

I think Australia has some of the biggest colletors in the world. We have alot of player/set collectors who are knwon worldwide for their amazing collections.

Its true though ten years ago I never imagined half the cards in my collection. I was amazed at the first 97/98 UD Game Jersey cards, I couldn't believe they put bits of players jerseys on cards! Now we take it for granted. A card numbered out of 100 used to be SUPER RARE now they sell for a couple of bucks. Its crazy.

It does definitely seem we have a lot of fairly serious collectors in Australia.

Yeah when I was first collecting back when I was 10 years old, I never would have imagined my collection to contain #'d auto's and GU cards!

I remember when i was 6 or 7 & started to collect basketball cards looking at a beckett thinking a $20 card was amazing & out of this world & when those UD autos came out i went to Card Heaven and bought a Dana Barros auto for 8 bucks that card was the highlight of my collection until i started collecting again & saw all the amazing cards people had! I was amazed when i found out about this place and to see that so many people in Australia still had an intrest in basketball cards and had such amazing collections with 1/1's etc

We at Ozcards are putting Australia on the map to earn the respect for our amazing collections =D>
When you think about it, quite a large amount of rare cards reside here, if (God forbid) Australia was to disappear tomorrow, surely it would throw the card world in turmoil! Riders would skyrocket in price! Imagine that?

I think we've all done well in coping with the extremes of getting cards to Australia and evolved into making it alot easier for everyone now. On a side note, does it also make you wonder with the amount of new product coming out every year, when the a$$ will drop out of (the new releases anyway) cards? Or will it remain stable with the population growth and new interest?

I think as aussies we're doing an awesome job with our collections, especially living so far from where the product is originated from and mainly distributed, which makes it so hard to attain. I know for a fact that we have the best jr collections in the world here in australia, which is a fair effort considering how much easier it would be for people in the US to pick his stuff up! Impressive guys! I also think that the market is just starting to pick up on sports cards as I've noticed more Newsagencies and shops starting to sell packs etc...

I honestly thought card collecting was dead till i got on here wish i found out about this place earlier
Good to see BBall Card Collecting is still going strong :)

Ive seen some amazing cards on here in ppls PCs!

Oz - was gonna say exactly the same thing.....I remember spending $20 on my first Larry Johnson card #/100 on ebay and thinking it was SOOOOO RARE!!

As for the player collections, there's no doubt in my mind that they're up there with the best in the world.
From my experience the best 3 player collections I have seen are LJBIGGESTFAN - he's missing less than 30 cards out of over 1000 LJ's , Mojenda's Stackhouse collection - this guy has the most jersey #'d cards I've seen at about 70+ - he also has trifectas (#1/, jersey #/d and last/) for lots of cards - it's amazing.
Then there's another guy Patrick's JHo collection which is nuts - over 60 jersey numbered and piles of 1/1's.

Having seen KG collections from round the world we have 2 of the top 10 best here in OZ/NZ and from my experience the biggest Twolves collection I've seen (AJ's).
There's absolutely no doubt that we stack up pretty well round the world..... especially per head of population

I've thought this ever since I started back into collecting - so many cards - was part of the reason why I decided on only jersey numbered stuff - and I've noticed that players jersey numbered cards are becoming more popular and more expensive to get as collectors chase them harder.....

Personally I don't think it'll remaion stable - lets face it 1/1 plates are starting to drop in price big time...so what's next??
