NBA 2024-25 season thread - SPOILERS

Interesting trade. Man, the Knicks are going to be expensive this year (and into the foreseeable future...).

I've only read up a little on the proposed trade but the excitement from Knicks media because Towns is a "true centre" and his "improved defense" and rim protection is pretty funny. Sure, he's tall so Thibbs will be happier playing him at centre than he would Randle, but come on, no one is deciding not to attack the rim because he is standing there...

Also the spin that Towns is under contract for four years and that's a good thing, is interesting. Good luck paying him 60mill per year.

It really feels like NY should have found a way to move Randle earlier into someone's cap space and resigned Hartenstein.

Having said that, I like the deal even less for Minnesota! It's hard to see how Randle fits smoothly in a team that already struggled for outside shooting and ball movement.

Totally agree with everything here. I’ve not been a fan of Towns really ever. He’s had a tough go the last few years losing family during Covid though, he’s not the greatest shooting big man ever as he has said.

Weird fits all around. It looks like it just had to be done and that was the best on offer for both sides at this time.

Thought Knicks would have learned a lesson having been involved with signing Brunson after a team refused to pay him. Then let Hartenstein go. Weird.

to ChatGPT: predict the winner of the 2024-25 NBA championship using any method necessary

Predicting the winner of the 2024-25 NBA championship is challenging, especially given the unpredictable nature of sports. However, I can outline some key factors to consider:

1. **Team Composition**: Look at the core players on each team. Superstar talent, depth, and role players can significantly impact success.

2. **Injuries**: Keep an eye on the health of key players. Injuries can change the trajectory of a season.

3. **Coaching**: A strong coaching staff can make a big difference, especially in playoff situations.

4. **Recent Trends**: Analyze how teams performed in the previous seasons, including playoff success and any changes to the roster.

5. **Offseason Moves**: Trades, draft picks, and free agency can reshape teams. Pay attention to which teams made significant upgrades.

6. **Chemistry and Culture**: Teams with good chemistry often perform better in high-pressure situations.

Based on these factors, teams like the Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets, or Boston Celtics might be strong contenders, but anything can happen! It’ll be exciting to see how the season unfolds.

next qtn - Nominate one team as the favorite to win the 2024-25 NBA chammpionship

I’d nominate the Denver Nuggets as the favorite to win the 2024-25 NBA championship. With their strong core, including Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray, and the depth they’ve shown, they seem well-positioned to compete again. Their recent success and playoff experience also give them an edge. Of course, anything can happen in the NBA, but they look like a solid choice!
