Optimum 2022

I really hope when they announce a date to purchase it's still a month away, but guessing it wont be, maybe drop day after the grand final for the public. Guessing Monday to Friday/Saturday for SCC. It's very close to Brilliance, guessing that wasn't part of the plan but something has happened and it's how it's going to be now.

Sneaker bots expected to run amok again.

Looking at ebay, lots of them are still trying to flog them off so it will be interesting if they try it again.
I guess most bot owners are happy to probably cut back their profit and quickly flip this time around

Yeah I agree, problem is if they leave it much longer footy season is over and some momentum will be gone

Clearly this was meant to be released a month or so ago, as brilliance doesn’t require the same sort of real football to accompany that release

We've seen an increase in numbered cards in Footy Stars and Prestige this year. I assume Optimum will be the same (given its price point it's clearly aimed at the more HC collectors).

I like the O+ and O+ Parallels (and DPS obvs). I think the AA and Medal winners could be a longer run.

Would be happy to see Specialist, Headliners and Mirror replaced, though I suspect Mirror might stay.

Wonder if there will be any 30th anniversary variations. Would love to see them introduce a parallel that mimics older/classic designs. Though maybe would make sense to have 1993 style cards in the 2023 release of Footy Stars.

I've been saying for years that if they did a re-release of the 94 Select cards but with current players and have them numbered that it would blow my mind. Have the exact same design across the release, with the same inserts. Gold cards, a legend card and plenty of sigs, but have them numbered. Now that gets me excited lol. Sorry was a bit off topic, carry on with Optimum 2022 talk.

I'm right with you on that one. 1994 is the iconic design for me, 1993 not far behind (would be cool to see 1993 style cards that are full size and properly centred). I have a soft spot for the 2006 Champions design. From 2007 onwards the base cards don't really diverge too much.

If they did it on Topps Chrome stock...wow

I’m liking that sort of idea, instead of the parallel being some made up funky design they are the corresponding design of x years ago

So if you had them in 93 style this year, they are 94 next season and so on, I guess this wouldn’t happen but foiled versions of the designs from years gone by would be great

Now I’m disappointed we won’t get them!

Love a continuation of the Optimum Mirror cards. Dunstall/Gunston Platten/Newcombe Crawford/Jiath Hodge/Hardwick

Also hope they replaced the influential it's more than run it's course.

Having rewritten the rulebook for series two last year (for better or worse), I'm expecting more of the same when it comes to this year's release.

Whether they'll make any refinements remains to be seen, but I'd expect a very similar set with very similar ratios.

Any leaks yet anything different any prices how much were last yrs . Forget now as you have to pay a lot more now on the secondary market.

315 a box RRP.

I'm hoping we see an increased SCC allocation but more importantly a decreased box limit for the public.

If they allow four boxes per person in the public drop again Select haven't learnt anything since the last series two drop.

I agree.

Select are falling into the same category as Topps, Panini, etc.

Once they have a product that sells, they won't change it much. The AFL card community is very simple in that regard as well, they will buy whatever Select put out.

Select cornered everyone and lured them in for good lol

What was the limit last year 3 or 4 for SCC? I think 4 to 6 limit is fair for SCC the majority of which are hardcore collectors you would think. However, whatever Select try there will always be dissatisfied customers somewhere.
