Hey lads, my virus scanner's telling me i have trojens in 2 .avi video files, is that even possible?
Advice please

i would delete them, reinstall your virus software and update the virsuses and run a full scan.

Man, viruses are getting more and more prevalent by the day.

These people come up with new ways of getting inside your PC every day.

Delete them and them run adaware to see what the go is.

Well, All AVI files are not safe..

some AVI files now can execute.. so, it's best you quarentine them..

Looks like you download junk avi files, if its not DVDrip, they are very likely to be infected..

Viruses can be fixed. But how hard it is to fix, is a whole nother question.

Also, I have found, no matter the fix, the PC is just never the same afterwards.

The last time I got one, many years ago. Even my techy friend had a nightmare trying to get rid of it, in the end, it crashed my whole PC.

Stuck with a Notebook at work which had a virus/trojan infection, due to a program/file "WinAntiVirusPro2007"....

Was unable to remove it, was unable to stop it from running, was unable to do practically ANYTHING after about 2 minutes of the Notebook starting up.. It just froze, and I had NOTHING.

So I rebuilt it, (still going), no problems... only we lost everything on the HDD, and I'm lost with 2 days rebuilding it.

This brings me to a thought... people who create viruses and who are caught, should be sentenced to life in jail. Because they could be messing with someone's life.

Well, when u get tv shows like the office.. make sure u check the file, if they are probably converted into divx or xvid.. usually, the show should be either around basically 350mb or 700mb if AC3 and higher def with better res.

so, basically, 175mb (mostly use for SITCOM 30mins), 350mb (mostly use for drama, 47 mins), 700mb and 1.4gb are basically acceptable ones.. and do not trust the files from public tracker.. like DNS is mixed with numbers and names.. they are very dodgy..

some video files are now a bit complicated level at the moment.. especially, WMV ones, those video files can be embedded with executable scripts, if you mistakenly click yes.. you will be basically giving administrative permission..

hope u can clean up the stuff, also run registry cleaners as well... hope that helps..
