The Australian cricket non-official thread!

So tragic.

An absolute cricketing revolutionary in the ODI format. I don't think Deano gets the credit he deserves, he changed the ODI game with his attack and aggressive running between the wickets. Despite that, it irks me that he was labelled an ÓDI specialist' despite playi9ng 50+ tests, averaging more than Mark Waugh (mid-high 40's) and scoring a double ton in India in a weak period of Australian cricket and a double against the might of the Windies.

A great fieldsman also, add 20 runs to his scores each match because that is what he was worth in the field.

I loved a bit of the lair too, sunglasses, despite being practical but how good!

I still have his ODI magic book personally signed and outlining that 150 in 37th over of an ODI was a target score!

His 145 against England at the Gabba when the old dog track was still there, amazing memories.

RIP Deano, gone but not forgotten.

Gutted about Deano - he was a player I idolised when I was growing up. Hats off to Binga for doing all he could to save him. Proud Victorian, proud aussie player, the man knew how to play the game for maximum excitement and crowd entertainment... never was there a finer player to invigorate Victorian cricket and inspire generations to come...

What a horrific couple of days cricket from the lads. Credit to India but wow, no guts or determination with the bat, terrible catching and ground fielding looks sluggish. We have had no luck but we are a long, long way behind in this one.

Catches win matches. The lads look flat as a tack in the field. Makes for terrible viewing. Tim Paine’s catch was about the only highlight.

This is where I see the detriment of T20 dominated calendars. The guts and determination aspect of batting is almost non existent in test cricket these days, wickets are given away so easily.

Same thing happened when retained the ashes in England. Went out next game and were flat and got beaten to only draw the series

Bowl India out for 36 and crushing victory and flat the next game...

Credit to Rahane, superb captaincy whilst Kholi is away, field placement, great century when the pressure was on, sensational cricket from India. Our batting lineup was always going to be limited. No valuing their wicket at all. Disappointing to say the least.

The couple hundred people watching the bigbash at Gold Coast are loving it lol. Dont think anyone knew it was on or they couldn’t be bothered

I'll probably piss off a few people with these comments, but the BBL has been ruined by CA trying to have too much of a good thing.

BBL6 - 32 Games + 2 Semis and a Grand Final

BBL10 - 56 Games + 5 Semis and a Grand Final

The season is way too long and you have international players not able to (or willing to) commit for the full season like before, and the games don't really mean anything. Even Adam Zampa said this week the season is way too long.

This year Covid has impacted on some international players but even so players aren't willing to commit to 9-10+ weeks being out here in OZ when other series are happening around the world (NZ and SA summer as well) plus the money isn't anywhere as lucrative as the IPL.

CA tried to make the games more interesting with the new rules this year and most people thought it was complicating what should be a very simple game.

I haven't watched more than 5 minutes of the BBL this year and I have pretty much lost all interest in it to be honest. I think I maybe missed watching 1-2 games the previous years but after last year really don't have any interest in it.

Cheers
Matt

I watch mainly the first 10 overs of a game. Depending on what time it starts as up early for work. Completely agree its too long long, i don’t entirely pay attention when i am watching more just a time filler to unwind.

Some players are playing 3-5 games then leaving. Whats the use of that

I enjoy most of the BBL games. I like the fact there’s cricket most nights. Even if I’m not too interested in the game it’s just nice having it on in the back ground, the wife might disagree 😂😂😂

Same, my daughter hates it, my son loves it.

Gees DRS is frustrating. You have s bloke not playing a shot and the ball hitting, not out live. Then you have Warner’s which I thought should have been not out live and it is given. Easy fix, if it is referred, on field decision becomes null and void.
