Looking at Soward's and a few other high profile NSW team picks if it's Maloney Roberts and Mitchell in, is there defense as questionable as some are saying? All are great in offense though.
May as well give QLD the trophy now. I don't even get how Roberts even gets a look in, one good try isn't enough to get a call up. Maloney experience will help but unless he cleans up his game (especially with forward passes and deliberately giving away penalties) he will do more harm than good. Mitchell defensively is still a worry but has been more consistent than Roberts.

After having joyfully watched plenty of footy this weekend I am willing to say that I can't see the top 8, as it currently stands changing too much.

Big call just shy of half way through the season and of course anything can happen with injuries, suspensions etc.

Of the teams in the top 8, the current top 4 are easily the benchmarks, particularly Penrith. Of the next 4, NZ have looked good but when they lose they lose big. SJ coming back will help. The Storm, Roosters and Broncos seem very inconsistent.

Outside of the 8, I think the Tigers are a very gritty and improved football team from recent years but like Canberra don't have the ability to put teams away. I give both of these two an outside chance of cracking the 8, Tigers more so.

It is good to see a few teams who have struggled in recent years mixing it up around the 8.

Sharks v panthers or dragons .Although Souths have probably had the hardest draw and have surprised me . Didn’t have them in my 4 . Be a good game next weekend to see where the sharks are at?

The teams with the powerful forward packs are starting to stand up and be counted (as is always the case in the NRL). The pretenders are starting to limp down. The Warriors are getting killed up front. We haven't had at least one of our spine for most of the season, but to be honest, they won't make much difference the way the team is getting battered into submission up front.

Had a good start to the season and I was hoping they would of been there abouts but you nailed it . Should of been a closer score especially at home as well

Origin QLD team picked for game 1, Happy Jai Arrow made the team he's playing well for the titans. I'm surprised Morgans not starting, I know hes been out of form but I thought experience would get him the spot. Also thought Corey Oates would have earned himself a spot.

He doesn’t want to play wing.
True, but that is where he's objectively best. I dunno about picking him up as a second row - we can probably get more value elsewhere to fill Crichton's spot... not to mention he hasn't officially signed with Roosters yet, so who knows what's happening there.
