2014-15 NBA Free Agents & Signings

The Cleveland Cavaliers announced today that the team and Kyrie Irving have agreed upon and signed a contract extension. Per league and team policy, terms of the contracts were not released. “We couldn’t be happier to have Kyrie firmly at the core of our Cavaliers team and family for years to come,” said Cavaliers General Manager David Griffin. “He’s already proven he’s among the best in the NBA and we’re excited to watch his continued growth and success. To know that he is all in and shares our high expectations and championship goals is something we’re extremely proud of. It is a clear reflection of how we all view our future together, with Kyrie fully vested in this franchise and the city of Cleveland.” NBA.com - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.WiWvHN2X.dpuf

I'm a little shocked about Lebron's team choice so far, if it is the Cavs.

I used to really enjoy watching him play there. But now he's just running away from another team because he doesn't believe they can win???

Whatever happened to going back to the drawing board and GETTING BETTER??? Isn't that what the pre-season is for?

It's baffling.

You never know though, he may stay with Miami.

It's also frustrating that he stuffs around in Free agency so much. Why does he not know where he wants to play? He's the best player in the game and should know by now. He's holding up everything.

I think for Bron, it's a better move, if indeed it's true (imagine the shit that site would cop if it's fiction!!!).

I DO feel having 2 max contracts on a team really hurts them in the long run. Sure, they're not Brooklyn Nets who's looking to be paying around $90m in luxury tax this year, but they'll struggle to bring on players NOT wanting MLEs or VET MINs.

In saying that, Cavs (right now) have a better stability with young talent (on rookie contracts), but in 2-3 years, they'll be struggling to find that $8m-$10m player, unless they want to pay big in taxes, and if they're not winning rings, they won't be in a position to do that. Cavs DO have a shallow bench, and their front-court players are few and far between. If Varejao goes down with an injury, they'll have Haywood....

Heat on the other hand if they can't secure any of their big 3 (I imagine Wade will be back), they're purely in rebuilding stages, and won't achieve anything next season. 4-straight finals appearances, including back to back champions, and now they have a gutted roster. Being through it before with Mavs in 2011, winning gold then dumping their team because of salary cap issues and basically rebuilding from ground up. It's taken 3 years, and they MAY be back this season (not necessarily winning gold again).

I would get a massive kick out of Heat signing Melo and keeping Bosh & Wade on board, and winning more games than Cavs next season!!!

I find this tweet absolutely bizarre on Suns' behalf if they pick him up...

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 17m
Restricted free agent guard Isaiah Thomas visiting Suns today, sources tell Yahoo. Suns looking to build on deep backcourt.

Brett Weisband ‏@weisband 15m
For the record, Isaiah Thomas told me yesterday that his top three choices are the Lakers, Suns and Dallas. Very interesting trio.

Isaiah is a HUGE PLUS for any team that signs him, huge fan here. Hope the Lakers grab him but can see him getting more mins with the suns and or dallas.

I understand that, but a team who already has possibly 3 PGs, 2 of which are starters (Bledsoe slides to SG), looking to add a 4th - another starter on any given team, just makes me say WTF. lol.

I would have thought LAL would be his best option, if he wants out.

No argument from me if LAL takes him!

phoenix makes no sense to me - unless they arent confident of keeping bledsoe around??... lakers not bad choice but i reckon the better one is dallas... they dont really have anyone that i would consider their starting pg at the moment - felton? nope... monta? nope, he's a 2 guard... i understand that it would be small but can you imagine how fast a backcourt of monta and thomas would be??

Tucker got a nice deal. Probably a bit cheap, IMO, but it is FULLY guaranteed!

@ShamsCharania: P.J. Tucker has agreed to fully guaranteed three-year, $16.5 million deal to re-sign w/Suns, league source tells RealGM

Branko, you forgetting my boy Harris?!?! :D

Harris is (IMO) better off the bench with B.Wright. Thomas would be great, so long as we didnt have Felton on the books. DAL still needs that backup C.

So Lebron still hasn't done anything?

This what I don't get.

If he commits to the Heat asap, they can then make some moves to help them next season. If not, the better players won't commit first without lebron being there. I mean, as of right now people think he's going to the Cavs.

If Lebron is going to the Cavs, he needs to make a decision so they can work a deal for Love before someone else does.

Or is Lebron gonna brush them both and play for the Knicks??? This is just a thought I've had all year.

I just don't get it. So painful.

Sigh, give me Tim Duncan ANY day of the week, ha ha.

I think some Heat fans agree he's off to CLE....

But you're right Ben, it seems everyone is waiting on Lebron to decide. Bosh wants to stay in MIA so long as Bron does, what does that mean for the rest of MIA?!!?

Here's my take;

Bron - CLE
Bosh - HOU (not sure how they feel they can retain Parsons IF Bosh comes on board)
Wade - MIA (he's as loyal as they come)
Melo - NYK (all about the money for this dude)

I can't see Love going to CLE if they land Bron, just doesnt seem they have enough $ unless they can convince MIN to take on Varejao (who is a long-time favourite of Bron), but it would also cost them (possibly) Wiggins. MIN may well look at options from say PHO, or BOS if CLE won't give up Wiggins.

Ariza, IMO will end up in HOU if DAL gets Parsons. Ariza will be cheaper (a lot, you'd think) than Parson's $15m.

Lance Stephenson, he's the funny one. I see him in LAL, but really not sure how that'll work with Kobe and Nick Young.

Lance has been rumored to being interested in CHI town.
